Default Is anyone running 2.2 on their SCX

I was looking through the picture archive and only saw 1. Are there disadvantages to running 2.2 over 1.9? I will be running an HPI Bronco body which is for an 1/8th scale and thought it would look better with 2.2's. What are your thoughts and opinions?

yes im running 2.2 mud slingers on mine but I also had to make a 1" suspension lift so I would still get my articulation. If your going to use 2.2 then I would recomend some sort of suspension lift or else your suspension will be highly limited. If you stick with the 1.9s then no modifying will be needed but you wont get the extra axle cleerance that you would get from the 2.2s.

As far as body choises goes...
As far as I know I dont think that you would have to modify or cut the body when useing 1.9s but you might have to do some trimming if you use the 2.2s

hey renny,

I was wanting to do this as well for more traction\clearance. Could you tell me, what is the effect on the stability? It seems like it would make the truck more likely to tip over unless maybe you use offset rims.

Thanks for the info!

SCX comes stock with narrow hexes. Couldn't you just use some wider hexes?

2.2's are do-able on the SCX, and will take you just about anywhere. Here's an old one of mine on PL Hammers. The wider tire gives you more stability if you don't lift it too high.

Up-sizing to 2.2's is by far my favorite upgrade. The effect on stability is so minimal, I can barely notice.
BUT THE EFFECT ON PERFORMANCE IS EPIC! 2.2s will take your SCX-10 to places that 1.9s just can't.
You won't be able to corner quite as fast, but hey, my 1:1 Honda Odyssey will corner alot more stable than my Jeep Wrangler with a 4 inch lift and 35in MTs.
I chose a short 2.2 tire, the Proline Badlands, standing at 5.06 inches tall.
Heres a pic...

Yup Runnin' Losi Rock Claw 2.2's on mine, and by far the best single up-grade I have done to the truck. the effect on handling is minimal, but the gain in all around performance is down right astonishing With the right set up it will handle BETTER than stock and crawl way better than stock. With the right choice of wheel and tire, it will look better than stock as well

Just about finished putting 2.2 Flatirons on my honcho...Narrowed the tires and rims so there just about the same as a 1.9 rok lok. havent got to run it yet but heres a pict. I may lift the body a hole or two but will still use the same shocks.

Nice chick in the backround pic
Those look like a good size! What wheels work best when running 2.2's? Id like to run some flatirons or the new tsl's. I may haveto ditch the handbro's and get some longer shocks though.

Thanks...the wifey is a HOTTIE....I don't know what 2.2 rims yet, I only have 2 sets and they are both stock axial 2.2 rims. I just finished testing on my mini rock pile and I dont see me putting the rok loks back on any time soon...killer hook up and better speed...would like to find a narrower offset rim guess it's time to do some reasearch. I do like how they truck looks like a actual tacoma now with full size axles...it still looks somewhat scale-ish
