Default Anyone here running a 4 link setup on the rear of your SCX10?

Anyone here running a 4 link setup on the rear of your SCX10?

I'm starting to plan out a SCX10 build for myself, and I was thinking of running a 4 link setup on the rear end. I've never really been a fan of the stock 3 link setup even though I know it works just fine.

Any suggestions on a scale looking 4 link mount?

I was thinking of using this one from TCS:

I'm also thinking this New Erra 4 link might looks nice and scale, but for some reason it doesn't look as strong to me...

I used TCS boomerang for mockup but it was not scale enough for me . This is what we did on my SCX-10 Blazer build .

I just installed my boomerang the other day. The upper links need to be lengthened just a little to get the pinion clocked right. It looks sweet and really frees up the rear end. Unfortunately, my honey do list has been just long enough to keep me from testing it out on some rocks :(

In a 3-link setup, the rear axle will only have the single point of the upper link to rotate around for flexing. In a 4-link, there are 2 points thus allowing more articulation.

Simply, it frees up the rear end to keep better traction.

THX for the update

But I have one more question ..... will the 4 link change the position of my tire at full articulation ?
With the current 3-link I get this and would like to keep that ...

Cool, that's got a bit of the right scale look. Thanks!

i thought having a 4-link rear limits the articulation/travel but helps reduce the torque twist that results from orienting the motor with its axis of rotation normal to the axles, if that's the proper term. with this in mind, i've always wondered why so many people had their two center links on a 4-link so close to each other. please correct me if i'm wrong, i'm pretty new to the crawler scene.

I used that 4 link plate and it worked great . Even used the same links that came with it , all i did was put 2 rod ends instead of the whishbone link , and drilled 2 holes and moved the upper link mounts backwards to adjust pinion angle . all u have to buy is the link plate

From what I've seen I think the amount if articulation between a 3 and a 4 link is about the same. The torque twist is reduced by having better link geometry more than anything from what I understand, but I'm new at this too.

The upper links are close to eachother at the axle end to create triangulation, this gives the axle more stability from side to side and reduces axle steer.

I just ordered TCS 4-Link plates for the front and rear of my SCX. I'll see how they work, if I'm not happy with them I'll make my own out of some stainless round stock. I am compiling pics for a build thread so I'll post pics and info then.

Talking 4 link plates

there is a company called STRC they make a sweet 4 link plate that allows you to move your links to different widths for adjustment, and the best part is it costs about 7 bucks to pick one up also has holes for a servo mount so it works front or rear.

Those are nice but they just don't look right on a scaler IMO.
