Couple coats of clear and some detail painting.

They say it's mirror chrome, so why not use it for a mirror?

Some kids must have let the air out of my tires. Thank you!

Yay or nay?

Maybe put some type of screen or mesh behind it?

mesh behind those grills be phat, for the sidemirrors you could use the silver heat tape from home depot.

nascarkeith-
thats the exact gunmetal I used on the Montero, also with silver from duplicolor:

Thanks! That is a great looking color. Pantablo is the Monteror two Pajeros put together. If so that is some great body work.

Here is the inspiration for my next build.

The silver on it is a little too light for me but that gunmetal and black would look sweet!

I also think mesh in the grill would look good. It looks fine as is. Mesh would just add that little extra touch. I cut the screen out of an old screen door and have been using that for grills in 1:24 scale models and r/c's for years.

looks like the 1:1 has mesh in the grill area too, lol. I say use mesh.

[nascarkeith-yes, montero body is 2 pajeros together. there's a build thread for it, search 'charity montero'. when I finish it I am going to raffle it off with proceeds going to a diabetes organization]

Good idea, thanks. I just happened to have a roll of screen so I'll be using it. After I paint it black.

That will be a cool build. Are you going to making it fly the like one in the pic too?

Thanks for the tip, yeah it was a little rigid looking to say the least. I went back and softened the edges. Just need to re-chrome it.

Thank you. Once again, that's an awesome Runner! I can't wait to join the club.

Here it is with the screen. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I went ahead and made holes for LEDs.

The top for the back is coming along nicely. My styrene work never turns out that clean. I noticed you cut some relief lines to get your flat piece on top to bend. That is a great trick that I never seem to remember when I need to make a bend.

As for your earlier comment. I think the topless FJ will be a cool build as well. And yes it will fly at some point. Every R/C I own has flown. Sometimes its intential and sometimes its not. Even my TC3 drifter has got some air.

Keep up the good work on the 4-Runner. I think it will be right up there with some of the nicest SCX10's built to date.

Thank you The relief cuts helped a lot and didn't require and filler after sanding. I could make it a little smoother, but I'm a bit sick of sanding!

Not much of an update, but here goes...

Mirrors on
Top primed
Windows cut and ready for tint

Here's a close up of how I mounted the top. I used magnets for the body, but opted for 3/16 steel for the top. The magnet to magnet pull force was too much. Now it's just right.

Very nice touch with the sliding windows. Those magnets are great for sure, makes life a lot easier. I figure if the airplane guys use them they must hold pretty well.
