Thanks guys. I actually have a set of RC4WD Rok Lox that I need to mount up. Not sure why I haven't done that yet.... I get distracted easily. As far as a street looking tire ... I figure anyone that would 3 link an H2 and put it on tons would at least throw some swampers on it. I should have some Axial bumpers in tomorrow as well as some LEDs. I also picked up some Saftey Silv to do some brazing ... in case I need to make a skid/skirt for the axial bumpers. We'll see. Not sure what the winches usually pull but my rig is just over 8lbs. I do plan on reworking my BEC so it has a direct feed to my winch and my steering servo @ 7.4v. That should give it some more umph. |

LED time .... I got my LED kit from Bills custom RC lighting and it was exactly what I had asked for.... but I decided to rip it apart and change a few things. I still may add/delete a few lights here and there too. Mine is setup on 2 totally different systems. The body lights are setup to run off the Lipo and the rock lights are on a switch to run off a 9v. I may change them all to run off the lipo/switch though. So, after tearing it apart I started putting in the lights: And here is what happens when a cricket jumps in your face while you are really concentrating on soldering something... One animal was harmed in the making of this H2... Some updates.... After playing with Tommy & Steve at Bear Creek I decided I wanted to start waterproofing. I thought about doing the balloon thing but the idea of silicone and zipties everywhere put me off. I started thinking about making a box to put it all in but my sytrene skills are ... well I don't trust myself enough to make something water tight for $200 of electronics. So I took some basic measurements and went down to Radio Shack. I picked up a few of their ABS plastic "project" boxes. The 4x2x1 seemed close but everything was a f'n tight fit. I drilled small holes and add eyelets to everything. There is a sidewinder, RX, winch control & BEC all packed in there. I hope it doesn't get too hot but I can always run without the top on it. While I was doing that I did Stephens BEC trick and added 2 more LEDs. I screwed up one white LED so I slapped in some blue ones. They are inside the Axial housings that come with the Axial bumpers. Here is a shot of inside the box with everything wired up. The white haze is from the CA I used to modify my firewall on the body. Nothing wrong with the box. Here is how I disabled the button on the winch control so it would not accidentally get turned on. Pop off the little metal cover with an exacto. Remove the black button and underneath you'll find a small metal disc(gold/brass/copper color). Toss the metal disc and reinstall the black button and the metal cap. And a small upgrade to the H2: http://lockeduprc.net/blog/?p=1084 Cliff's notes: Removed the plugs from the wiring for my body mounted LEDs and added some spring loaded contacts. So now I don't have to mess with a plug or anything. Last edited by Locked Up; 11-13-2013 at 09:03 PM. |

At first I was worried people from the ghetto were starting to get into this hobby and figured it was time for me to get out of it, but thank god your truck is not gangster in anyway. Trust me that is a good thing Cool build man and I like all of the custome mods you have done to your truck. |

Thanks guys. My original intention was to make a mall crawler and sort of gangstafy it to poke fun at those types but it ended up being fairly capable and actually easier to do this way. I'm pretty happy with it. I also have some killer bead lock rings on their way. Once I get them I'll mount up the Roc Lox I have and we'll see how it looks. I'm hoping I don't have to lift it more to offset the larger tires because it actually handles pretty well right now. I'm also toying with the idea of making a cooling system for the electronics box with some tubes and fans. We'll see. |

I'm not going to paint it. I have a black body I'll modify and swap on once I get my new bead lock rings. We had a little scale comp today and I'm happy to report I won! Gallery from today: http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu.../12-13-091.htm Last edited by Locked Up; 11-13-2013 at 08:11 PM. |

That Dodge belongs to Scott (SAL45 - posted right before you). It's an SCX10 too. I don't know if he has a writeup anywhere but the full gallery from the comp is here: http://www.compprocrawlers.com/gallery/album84 |
