I beat on the FXR yesterday and killed a battery without it ever getting hot. As you can see in the last pic I bound it up as hard as I could to see if it would overheat:

Rest of the pics are here:

I sent the SV2 back to Castle. They said they'd take a look at it and either repair/replace it. I'll keep yall posted.

I cleaned it up a bit for MSD nats.
New mirrors
New roof rack
New grill
New Front bumper

I didn't have time to do the bumper the way I would really like it to be but I think it is a step in the right direction.

When I get back I will probably add a grill guard and take better pictures.

Well I'm thrilled to report that the H2 kicked some bootay at the MSD nats and took home the 1st place trophy in Class 1.

Unfortunately, due to the weather I didn't get a chance to take my camera out so no pics from any of the prelim courses and no video.

Luckily, Tom at RC4WD snapped some shots of me running the finals course so at least I have a few shots to share with yall:
http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...more/more1.htm

Maybe next year they will take me seriously and get some video.

In the pics you can see the new front bumper I whipped up the day before I left. Not sure if it will stay that way but everything worked well for the most part. My weak spot was my 3racing winch. It only stalled once but it was just so slow that I ended up finishing the finals course with just 23 seconds left!

I really really need to make a servo winch if I want any chance at repeating next year... and I do .... so that will be my next and possibly last modification to this thing.

Go with the claw winch, It has a free spool. It going to be very helpful when on the clock.

Long term I will braze on some shock hoops but I'm happy with the current locations.

It's been too long since I got to "play"!

I got the new wheels, tires, shafts and hubs on last night. I think they look really great. Tires look bigger than I thought they would and I still have some tweaking and painting to do to the hubs. We'll see how much time I get between now and nationals but I think with a little time I can really hit it out the park there.

After the bling mods I started on the winch. I opted for one of my servo winches for a few reasons, but mostly because using the CLAW winch would have required a new bumper to use the free spool and I just don't have that kind of time right now.

For whatever reason I couldn't think of a good way to setup the winch behind the battery and get the winch line past the battery to the fairlead. I went through a few crazy ideas in my head and wasted too much time. Why am I always doing things last minute!!!??? After racking my brain I decided on brake line but couldn't think of a good way to securely mount it .... then it hit me .... helps when you remember you can braze nuts to brake line! So I spent most of tonight plotting and planning and didn't get to actually building until it was pretty late.

I still have wiring to clean up and lots of tweaking to do but I am on the road to nationals now!

We'll see how it holds up tomorrow.

Still looks good, I have my H2 body sitting here if I decide to put it back on. The claws fit pretty good on there, I have MTZ's on mine.

Thanks.

Had a successful test yesterday of all the new parts and won my local class.

Unfortunately I had my camera set to +1.3 exposure from taking store photos but here are a few that are not totally whited out...

Now I have to get my class 2 truck sorted out!

Wow, just incredible, gives me so many ideas for when I get my truck. I may just have to dump my gassers in lieu of these rigs. Very cool!

It goes under the electronics box up front.

Tight fit but really just depends on the size you go with.
