the front links were never 106mm, even on the Honcho. Front lowers on an SCX are 91mm, and 98mm on a Honcho.

on the Honcho I used 98 tops stock 106 for the bottom and the axial 4 link truss seems to be just right

Notice I said the FRONT are not 106mm. I know that the rear lowers are 106mm and the front lowers are 98mm, I already stated that.

If you use the stock shocks with the rubber stoppers the panhard bar will not touch. If you want more up travel you can make a new panhard bar with a bend in the middle to clear under full compression and then rework the servo arm and draglink to clear also

Do any of you guys have a picture of the install on a Honcho and where do you mount the battery with the servo installed? Worked out ok on my SCX-10 but a little different for the Honcho.

I don't have any pics handy of it installed on my Honcho. You'll probably find a few when looking at Honcho threads.
As far as battery mounting, try BOWTIE's FatBatt tray: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=239096 If it's anything like his other products, you can't go wrong

I hear ya!
I like to fab stuff also, but sometimes (well OK, most of the time) I'm just too lazy
