Default steering servo problems...

I've recently had a lot of problems with my steering in my scx10. I have went through 3 servos very quickly... maybe a battery pack each time. I had a hitec HS-5645MG, a Hitec HS-5646WP and a traxxas 2075 servo. each time i spun the gears inside the servos the hitec servos both have metal gears. i have had axial 2.2 wheels and axial wheel weights for quite some time. I recently put RC4WD wheel wideners all the way around, Vanquish steering knuckles, and Vanquish 8 degree chubs, there is no binding or anything in the steering links nothing hits anything. I'm starting to get a little frustrated (and so is my bank account) and am clueless as to why this is happening... any help would be awesome!

you prolly need some unobtanium axles.
and axle bearings mfgr'd at zero gravity.

those might hold up !? Lol

Why would getting different axles fix my problem with my steering servo?

You'll find most cheap even metal geared servo's still have a plastic gear inside them which is stripping. Due to the extra strain of more steering angle, bigger tyres and more weight the cheaper servo's will crap out. Save your money and buy a high torque servo that can take the strain

I did buy hi torque servos... Two of them... And also it's the metal gears stripping not the plastic one.

Stick a photo up so we can see how you have your steering. I wouldn't call any of the servo's you bought hi torque. My wrangler G6 runs a HS-7955-TG on 1.9's

You need something with 250+ oz/in torque at least with those big wheels!

ok so i took a picture of my steering set up.. after reading a bunch more i realize i need to get better servos. what I dont get is even if i am running servos with not enough torque wouldnt that just not turn my tires as apposed to stripping gears in the servo? to me if its stripping metal gears its still got enough torque...

if youre using the high steer typee knuckles this is a common problem as youre steering is turning at such a radius it strains your servo

The servo isn't the only thing you may find you have a problem with..axles tend to break also with that type set up unless you buy very very expensive axles and servos.

The only thing I can suggest is if you want to keep that set up then use your radio adjustment and reset you end points so it doesn't put the strain on the servo near as much.

Yes you will lose some steering but decide what you feel is more important to you...Buying servos or losing some steering.

If you shorten the throw of the servo and get yourself a longer servo arm. That's what worked for me.
