Default Bens Fj 40 build

Inspiration

Current condition of crawler

I also have another full size fj 40 i am going to build. My idea is to eventually have them both the same. 3 link front and leaf rear. I am building both at same time.

Default moved battery mount

Due to the short body i moved the battery back and sideways. Still keeping it low. Used two servo mounts and screwed to the outside of the frame and drilled holes in battery plate, badda bing. Want to put servo back up inside frame rails. Also getting ready for wheel wells all the way around.

I have also been messing with link lengths and finally got it pretty much right. Also put soft internal springs in rear to limit down travel and works awesome. Just seems to keep the rear planted really well. I have wicked long g-made shocks that are awesome, but i need springs. The body is bigger and dont know which to get. The ones that came with them are if you run the shock fully extended, which i dont do. If you know of any let me know.

started making a tub. Eventually I am gonna make an entire body for door less and topless, but thats once i can afford to put some money in it and put the motor up front and get an atlas look-a-like to free up interior space. This set up is for the time being. Wanna keep the snow off everything. Good thing i had so many servo mounts, they make good scale body mounts. And easy to do a body lift if need be.

i think they help clean up the look on the side of the frame too. the mounts hide the screws for the links.

ready to crawl some more. Currently running 3s lipo traxxas waterproof speed control from my slash, and an rc4wd 35 turn. goes awesome. Best thing was internal springs from hardware store.

Nice work on the Cruiser Air. Looks like a ton of craftsmanship went into that Tub....Looks like it will perform very well. I have to agree with Posi though, that the flares are pretty werked! Being a Cruiserhead, don't matter to me as long as the end result is what you wanted. Happy wheeling...

Better at what? Looking better for mommy to go get groceries in? Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one. I just don't understand why you would come on someone else's thread and post something so retarded....Go make your own 4runner thread or something....Don't forget the 1:10 scale grocery bags with the little french bread loaves sticking out the top...

this is my younger brothers fj. i was just giving him a hard time like brothers always do. i also have a 10th scale fj40 and a full size 85 4runner thats far from being a grocery getter. do your research and you will find that the first generation 4runners are one of the best off-road rigs out there. leave it to a californian to be an a-hole

I got the body that way. no$ for a new one yet. wish it had fenders though. :-(

In the off road world cruiser owners are in a class of their own, sort of like a family (ih8mud). Its good to see another cruiserhead defending one of their own when flamed by a 4runner owner. Its all good though, it was all in good brotherly love. We bust on each others rigs all the time.

o yeah and on the craftsman end of building the tub, it was easy. Its my first time ever attempting styrene. Made some templates of thick paper for some pieces and traced it out scoring with a knife and snapping it. prob 2-3 hours in it just nice and easy. Sooo nice not kicking dirt-snow-water all inside.
