Just noticeed you did not modify the steering servo like you did your other rig reason?

Or is it because of the battery and esc mount, cause on my trail rig I have the hand bros steering and has modding something up kind of like how you have your to move the battery to the front along with ESC.

I'm probably going to go with the Hand Brothers steering kit too. But, I lowered the battery tray down by cutting the 3 plastic standoffs in half. So, I left the servo in the stock location for now.

I'm kicking myself in the ass now! I painted my honcho body last night, half of it, with indy silver (the top half silver, bottom half black). Laid down my first coat of black today and it bled through, BAD! It's an easy fix for the flatbed (paint silver on the outside), but the cab is going to look like crap! I'm gonna have to paint the whole thing black on the outside I'm afraid and I know i'm going to hate the dull finish. *sigh*

lengthening the back end really improved the stance and departure angle

what electronics did you use, happy with everything, what do you like the most about it.

The paint job is reminiscent of the "General Lee", except yours is slightly more bad ass.....we won't know just how awesome it is until you jump it across the river and outrun ol' Rosco!

I am very happy with this rig so far. It works very well in almost any situation I put it in. It'll even pull some lines we have used in 2.2 comps over the last year.

Rig Stats:
Novak 45t motor with a 14t pinion
Novak Super Rooster ESC
Futaba 4PK radio
Hitec 985mg steering servo
MaxAmps 2200mah 3S lipo

RC4WD 1.9 Rox Lox tires
Axial 4 link truss out back
Stretched the wheelbase 1/2″ out back
Lowered the battery tray out front
Removed rubber bump stops from shocks

Only thing I want to change right now is the ESC. I'll probably swap that out for a Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster BR-XL ESC soon to get drag brake and better low speed resolution.

Would you mind listing the parts #'s you used to stretch it and do the 4 link setup?

Just ordered a BR-XL for mine too.

BTW Bender, Is the honcho pic on Axials website next to the white jeep a real 1:1 rig that Honcho was modeled after? Or is that photoshop? this one:

Here's a pic of mine too:

It does amazingly well for a scaler with no weight in the wheels.

I used the stock 106mm lower links with 4mm spacers on one end and our longer comp shock rod ends all the way around. For the upper links I used our 98mm links, with 4mm spacers at both ends, and the longer comp shock rod ends at the axle.

Here's the list of parts that I used:
AX80034 X2 (Plastic comp shock parts tree)
AXA1416 X1 (Grey 4mm spacers)
AX30518 X1 (Grey 98mm links)
AX80011 X1 (Driveshafts)
AX80043 x1 (4 Link parts tree)

Probably not really stronger, as the ears on the driveshafts usually give out first. I did the driveshaft mod because after stretching the wheelbase out back the driveshaft was barely long enough. Rather then worrying about it separating on the trail, I just beefed it up to be safe.

There is no 1:1 that the Honcho was modeled after. It is all photoshop.

Harley came into town for the AWCCQ comp at Lake Wohlford last Saturday. We ventured out to Corona Del Mar on Sunday for a little practice with the 2.2 comp rigs, and little scaler action. Thanks for taking the pics Josh.

Hi Bender,
Awesome setup. Newbie to crawling but not to RC. I have a stock honcho and will be doing trail and some crawling. Which one would you suggest for a esc. goat(drag brake) or velineon(waterproof). Thank you in advance
