Finally got a chance to build one of the new Honchos for myself. This thing is just fun to drive. I stretched the wheelbase by 1/2 and even without weight in the wheels it climbs like a goat. "thumbsup"

Here's a link to my post on Axial's Blog.
Axial Racing - Bender’s Honcho Build

I will update this thread here on RCC as I make mods.

I did drill holes in the cab to mount the cage. I cut our rubber shock bushings in half and used those as spacers between the cab and the cage. 8)

Thanks, I'll get some body off shots up today. I also trimmed the "wings" off the front bumper too, I'll get some pics of that up as well. 8)

Looks "thumbsup" as always. Shock bushings between cab & cage, nifty idea indeed.

Jeepial 01-07-2010 10:27 AM

So what did you do about the steering servo hitting the cross member?

On mine anyways, I took a dremel and notched it out till it works. Other guys took the cross member right out, but then your battery tray support isn't there.

I took a bench grinder to mine, but still curious about Bender's solution.

I took the 10mm standoff out on the front upper links and replaced it with a spacer in the 8mm range to clock the axle back a hair to clear. You can use the extra plastic 7.5mm tranny spacer instead of the 10mm spacer too. Those are in every kit and aren't used because we include the aluminum tranny spacer. Notching the cross member works too. "thumbsup"

Adamsdad 01-07-2010 12:08 PM

I was also wondering when the Honcho Body kit is going to be available, I would like to get it for my existing SCX-10.

grimgard 01-07-2010 12:13 PM

Nice paint job! I might have to get one of these myself, that is if the wife will let me

Did you notice any issues with the front wheelbase not linning up right? I saw another build in another thread (never got a reply) and it looked off.

bcrofts 01-07-2010 12:15 PM
