Hoyt's HoNcHo

Yeah its another one. Ill start off with the pics of it complete out of the box including a 3raching winch.

Well I have many plans for this axial rig including
Roklox
New wheels (undetermined)
Proline Scaler Shocks
tow shackles
Warn and tacoma decals
Hand bro's kit when honcho version comes out, i dont wanna take the one i have off my scx blazer
and rock sliders.

what i have done so far is finaly getting a day off and giving brazing a shot. I like stinger bumpers and i also like the looks of narrower bumpers on these things. I also figured the simplar the better starting off with brazing.

Made myself a little template first.

Next worked on some sheet metal then added the rod

So i was able to finish it up today and came out with below. I still need to clean it up a bit and paint but let me know what you think.

Little skinny for my taste, but you said you wanted that, so looks great! Maybe needs one cross member about 1/4 inch down from where the outer ones meet? I dunno, needs a little something.... can't put my finger on it.

yellorover 01-15-2010 08:26 PM

put a loop at the top to hook the winchhook on instead of the little tab.

Maybe make some light guards to even out the look

Looks nice but a little skinny for the body. Here is the one I made for mine.

Looks great I just gor into scale rigs and I think I like it better than my comp rig cause I can make my own stuff and get points for it if I decide to compete in the scale scene.
Keep on fabbing!!

After staring at it for a while i agree but i still like the narrow part of it.

I planned on putting tow shackles on the tabs still trying to decide though.

Thats it, the only other thing i was thinking of adding was a cross member piece on each side coming off the stinger and onto the top tube. let me know what ya think.

Both of those set ups look good. I guess its all a matter of opinion and what you want.

Thanks man much appreciated. I am going to stick with the wider one. Think it fits the lexan tacoma style body better.

It was a balmy 30 degrees this morning so i went back out into the shed and started on some rock sliders. I kinda rushed these cause u know why walk 30 ft. back to the house and get a jacket. Made them bolt on and got them most of the way done but still a few things to add. Also placed an order from rpp for some new goodies.

My only question right now is what to paint these things with. I searched the paint section for a while and came up with a few ideas. I do have a spray can of rustoleum textured truck bed coating. Any one ever use this.

Put them on to see how they fit.

They look good rotate them up some. They look like side steps there.

But nice start.

You beat me to them I'm still designing mine.

fathead 01-18-2010 10:38 AM

the sliders look good. I myself would bring them in closer to the chassis so that they dont look like side steps.. justa thought.... I like the paint on the body it looks great.."thumbsup"

70duncan 01-18-2010 08:52 PM

thanks guys.

I had a little time to work on one of them and came up with a new angle i think its definitley sitting better now. Not done yet but this is what I was trying to go for with a little variation on my own.

http://locktup4x4.com.au/hilux-4runn...-inch-751.html

I was trying to keep the angle little below the door the line. It sits just above it but i can live with that.

I finished up my tubing work and all that it needs now is some paint. I got my rok lox and wheels from RPP today and cant wait to get them together and try these highly regarded lox. Here are some pics of the finished tube work unpainted but just wanted to throw them up see what u guys thought. I given this thing so many facelifts it wants to kick my ass.

Thought i would put up a mini commercial for rpp and rc4wd. Good vendor/service and products. The wheels are the rc4wd steel black.
