Default 4Runner build

Decided to start a thread on this. I am a really slow builder so I thought if I posted something on here it might get me motivated.

I purchased a Honcho a while back and started building it. Then I saw the 4Runner bodies on RC4WD and really wanted one. I got the body cut out and the wheelbase sorted out. For anyone wanting to use this body I ended up using 91mm links on the front and 98mm links on the back. It looks like it is going to line up pretty good.

Here are my plans so far:

Paint: White with black on the bottom/fenders and maybe a black hood.
Sliders, front bumper and rear bumper protection out of brake line.
Either paint the wheels black or replace them with RC4WD black steel wheels.

Here are a few pics.

Default Update

Time to update this build.

I relocated the battery plate.

I picked up a project box from radio shack and mounted it to the rear of the chassis.

It will house my ESC, receiver, and eventually my winch controller.

I had used velcro on my last build and it worked pretty well but I wanted to have a more secure mounting solution on this one. I used some TLT parts for the front mounts. The hood will eventually be flat black and I will use some black bolts so hopefully they won't show up quite as much.

I cut the front bumper off in preparation for a tube bumper.

I mounted the rear bumper up for these pics but it will be replaced with a tube bumper.

I like the width of this body. It is great for axial axles.

Still to do:

flat black the hood
tube bumpers and sliders
winch

Stay tuned!

Looks good but the departure angle looks a little much. But since your making a new bumper it may help.

Yeah I knew that rear bumper would be the major "hang up" on this body when I bought it. I don't go for all performance when building a rig. I build a rig that I like, try to make it look close to the 1:1 and then try to make it perform well. I do think the tube bumper will help but I don't expect this thing to have a great departure angle. I also have a JK build in the works that will be a bit more aggressive for the rough stuff I want to tackle.

I'm pretty new to the scale rc world and was just wondering what you had to do to get the wheelbase to match up to the 4 runner body and also where did you purchase the body from? your rig looks awesome so far! keep up the great work!

I was wondering the same thing. Found his build thread on another site...

"91mm links on the front and 98mm links on the back"
