Default my axial scx10 honcho kit build

buying a scx10 honcho kit and I already have a rustler vxl 2.4ghz remote and I want to run them both off of my 2.4 traxxas remote and I want it to be waterproof so I'm going to buy a traxxas receiver, vxl 3s esc and 3500 brushless motor would that combo be to much for my scx10 or could I use a 7 cell 3000 mah battery to slow it down, would I get a very long run time with that combo.
