The ESC is where the glitchy throttle response. Also try a smaller pinion. You can check out the vendor section, I recomend a Homes or JPcustom.

I'm running a Tekin 35T and Sidewinder in my slower SCX10 and it works very well on both 2s and 3s lipo.

Depends on how much $ you want to throw at it. U could just try a 35 or 45 turn motor and maybe a 14tooth pinion. Should be able to get both for about $30 to $40. A decent esc(another vote for the Holmes) is about $100-$125. I think u would be happy with the crawl ability of a 45turn and 14tooth pinion. You just will not have high wheel speed as the trade off. But the low speed control is worth it for what I do. Later if you want both speed and crawlability, get a esc that handles higher volts and get a 3s or 4s battery.

Change your gearing to slow it down. If its stock its running a 87t spur, try going with a 70-75t spur.

That would speed it up my friend. Bigger spur and smaller pinion=slow, smaller spur and bigger pinion=fast.

That makes no sense. I thought if you were to get a smaller spur you would lose speed and gain torque? And if you got a bigger spur you would gain speed and lose torque. Im not talking about pinions either just the spurs.

The closer in size the pinion and spur get (14/87 changed to 14/70) you gain speed. Think about what's happening, a 14t gear is able to spin the spur around quicker, because it has less teeth to go through. To slow down, a 12/90 or 14/90 would be more ideal.

As for whether a 6cell nimh pack will work for the Sidewinder / 35t, it should be no problem. On my son's crawler, I run Elite 1500mah 6 and 7 cell packs with the same setup.
