| wheel base concern with hilux body
I got a hilux body and i'm concerned about the fact that i'll have to shorten my wheelbase alot. I've talked to a few locals and most seem to think a shorter wheel base is defionately not a positive. So I just want to get some more opinions from some of you that run the hilux. I'm thinking about building a tuber rear end to basically copy the honco body so I can keep my wheel base but I really like the look of the full body hilux. thank you |

You will need to shorten if you have the HONCHO. The hilux is almost perfect for the original and DINGO W.B. Iwould tube the rear and keep the longer W.B.

It's hard to tell from the pic but, I bobbed the bed and stretched it in front of the wheel well. The wheel base is about 12-1/4". |

My suggestion is if you already have the hilux bed mine as well use it right, if I were you I'll use the bed till it either brakes or you no longer want the look with the bed.. that's what I'm doing then I'm going to convert the hilux into a truggy as far as the wheelbase well all I did is I got rid of the 12.3 honcho links & went with the 11.4 dingo links . . . Here is a pic of mine Here's how my wheelbase match up |

Do you have to swap out all the links or just the rear? I would think you would have to do front and back.

Ya, just don't want to spend 50 bucks if i don't have to. Thinking about just stretching the bed, or shifting the wheel well with a splice rather. Like Rus did above, just concerned about the bottom edges lining up.

Thanks for the tips and info guys. After reading all this I think i'm just gonna go for it. I am thinking down the road i'd like to make a tuber back half for it but since all ya gotta do is change the links I'm gonna do it and see how I like it. Hilux is by far the coolest scaler body i've seen yet, i'm really excited to get going on this finally. |

The shorter wheel base does have some disadvantages, but mine works alright. I did however stretch it out to 12" now. Or you can just go for the truggy! Her's mine. |
