FLASCX10: Project Thread

I just got my first r/c crawler, been into r/c for a long time, just never crawlers. Its a rtr honcho all stock except running on 2s lipo and a pro-line light bar. I am very happy with it, cant wait to get some bigger shocks(thinking pro-lines) and some aluminum links. Just ordered a cb antenna, pro-line roof rack and a light kit. most likely going with a novak crawler motor/esc soon, and i have a waterproof servo that is ready to put in. I attatched some pics of the maiden voyage. I do have a 1:1 scale 1996 Wrangler as you can see in one of the pics so I do know a lot about crawling and off-road senarios. any tips/comments are welcome.

I went out for a trail run today, I think it went rather well. Ran into some sand and then mud and water after the rain the other day. Got a little deep for a stock RTR. Im pleased "thumbsup"

Got some new goodies today. Light kit came in, and CB antenna from RPP came in. Lights are super bright. 8) The CB antenna came faster than I thought. Here are some pics.

Still waiting on the Pro-Line roof rack, and winch is next.

flascx10 11-14-2010 01:13 PM

Hey guys, Did some aftermarket "performance" work and some sound add-ons today. Got the stuff from some old Dub City cars that I had from way back, still working on exhaust. And Pro-Line Roof Rack came in. Let me know what you guys think, i just bought some little accessories like fire ext, rifle, keg, ect. and im thinking next is the Novak system.

New roof rack, its a little too tall for my liking, im thinking about putting light bar infront of the rack. The wiring was somewhat difficult to hide the wires and make it look as scale as possible.

Positives off to one side and negatives off to the other, and then they go into a hole into the cab to 9V power supply.

Any comments, tips are welcome. Still in progress......

Looking good bud, can't wait to get mine ordered and up and running, we have to go to the compound sometime.

flascx10 11-14-2010 02:02 PM

Oh yea. Bullet mountain at Whickham park is a good place with rocks, sand, and a little mud. We should go there too

We have to make a day of that, oh ther's another spot I found at Whickem where they store all the extra sand, a ton of rocks and shredded rubber tires and it's alright to use it, no problems at all, perfect for rock crawling.

oh yea, sounds good."thumbsup"

Time for another update. I had a VXL system out of my slash after upgrading that system, so I put the ESC in the SCX10, along with a brand new Traxxas waterproof digital servo to complete the waterproofing process. I am super happy with it, it runs SO much smoother than stock at super crawler speeds, and runs quieter that stock. I did have to grind a tiny bit of the ESC's cooling vents to be able to slip it behind the motor, and I made sure that this didnt affect the ESC at all.

I wanted something different with my taillights, so I used an old Wal-Mart gift card from last year and made this. (all parts accept card came in the box)

Two black screws are holding lights in place, and the white one in the middle is holding card to the plastic peice.

Awesome, yeah that's pretty cool how your giftcard tail light set came out, I like. "thumbsup"

flascx10 11-15-2010 11:20 PM

thanks man, its so easy, even a caveman can do it. :lmao:

arctichorse 11-15-2010 11:21 PM

So easy I can do it, haha.

flascx10 11-16-2010 11:46 AM

Went out for a test of all the new electronics. They ran great, I had a small wiring issue(my fault) but was fixed in no time. I am very pleased with the results.
Standing water, the deepest I could get today was at the top of the tire, going to either have to wait for rain, or find another spot to do a water run.

Liked these shots, I got a good video on my Driod, but half way through the pipe, the signal was messed up because of the pipe, and the steering started twiching out and it gunned it in reverse. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...116_124020.jpg

Let me know what you guys think

arctichorse 11-16-2010 12:06 PM

That's awesome bud, man I can't wait for my kit to come in so I can get it together and we can hit the trails together.

flascx10 11-16-2010 01:08 PM

Hey Chris, what shocks do you plan on running? I've heard the proline shocks are pretty good.

arctichorse 11-16-2010 02:14 PM

Leaning toward the Pro Line ones, they don't seem bad. Stock ones don't seem bad either for right now but this is me where talking about so I better start planning for shocks soon, haha.

Sith Lord 11-17-2010 01:28 AM

Exhaust yes. Looks a bit out of place where you've got it though..... Check out my thread http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial-scx-10/275518-siths-new-honcho.html for what I did.

flascx10 11-17-2010 11:36 PM

UPDATE: Got some more goodies in today. Got the keg, propane can, and bungie set it, as well as rifle, fire ext, and jack set from Hobby Gear, got it all mounted up and it looks sick imo.

And I also was messing around with my Slash and SCX10 today, and remembered that both sets of rims and tires on them are both 1.9 scale, so I swapped them, the only thing i dont like is the blue beadlock ring on the green Honcho ;-). Looks sweet tho.

(Slash is for sale BTW, PM me if interested)
