Smile New Guy: Tommy's Build Thread

Well....Let me start by saying hi, I'm Tommy. lol I recently traded one of my short course trucks for 2 airplanes, 6 airplane batteries, and a SCX10 roller. I have been looking on here at some of your builds and they are awesome!! I have my work cut out for me and I'm gonna post pics on here as I proceed to making this ride a bit better! ;) I'm not new to rc at all. I started racing regularly back in March (2010) and have been a weekly racer since. I have never had a rock crawler..period! So when i saw terms like "Dig" and such...i had to google it to see exactly what it meant But i catch on really fast. I saw last night on here about the 4 link suspension so i already ordered the parts to do it. I'm not going to be competing in any competitions so I did the 4 wheel steering last night. I saw someone say that if you do 4 wheel steer you can not have the 4 link suspension, so i figured a way around that. ;) I'll post up some more pics with how I done it. but anyways here's my ride just about like I got it from my buddy. ALL Suggestions/Comments are welcome. You will not hurt my feelings one bit. Thanks a lot and I'm looking forward to chatting with you all on here.

Tommy

Also: the blue body and Green rims were not my choice....it's the way it came. LOL Give me a few weeks and then critique me.

Thanks...I'm looking forward to seeing what I can come up with also. ;) The motor that is in it right now is a 13.5T with a 20T pinion. Mamba Max Pro ESC. I have the Castle link settings at 50% Throttle, 40% Reverse, 250% Drag Brake(Crawler Mode) BEC at 7.0V, now I'm also running a Capacitor in my receiver since the rear wheel steer servo is taking some power from the rx. That helped tremendously. I'm gonna make a video of how the rear steer works and post it on here. oh yeah....where is the best place to buy stuff for these trucks?? Mods...stock parts....scale accesories...etc. Thanks

Move as much weight as you can to the front and get it as LOW as possible. Itll climb alot better and be less tipsy with that battery up front. Read around on here, Ive learned everything I know and then some from tooling around this site!!!

Looks good but was wondering about the extra chassis aswell. Also do you have a parts list for the 4WS?

Guys Calm Down!!! About the Body: If you read what I wrote.....this is the only body that I have until mine gets here. I got this truck in a trade and the green wheels and blue body is all i have for time being.

The Chassis: I sorta thought it looked cool and I was taking measurments to see what size shocks I would need for a AX10 Conversion. But after seeing all the scalers here I'm gonna do a scaler too.

Would like to do a scale version of my 1:1 body....but I can't find a Crew Max body with 4 door handles. :( heres a pic.

anybody got any ideas??

A couple Tamiya Tundra cabs, some styrene, Tenax 7R, exacto knife and some time and you could make that.
