my honcho

got this thing around the middle of Novemeber and have been running it since then, pretty much stock, just havent had the money to put into it. yesterday i went to play with it and turn it on and nothing, no "dinging" when you first turn everything on either, so im like WTF:shock:. so i started checking for bare wires and stuff just about to give up and figured the ESC was shot, then was thinking hmm.... good time to upgrade to waterproof stuff. happen to look at the motor and the ground wire broke off hmmm..... so i grabbed the wire touched it against the motor (where it should be) and ding its alive sweeeeetttttt!!!!!!!!

now how am i going to fix this, oh right got a 55t motor that i bought a while ago, oh look it has the wires attached sweet now we're in business did a quick motor swap and she's up and running again. also started working on a plow for it too. been doing some searching on here for how to mount it. also took the front bumper off because i couldnt climb anything.

anyhoo mods i've done so far:

55t motor
took out rear bump stops, will do the front today
took out plastic rear diamond plate crap
started making plow mounts
took off front bumper

the to do list:
remove bump stops up front
finish plow
make a front bumper

the to do eventually list:

110mm shocks
2.2 tires, either TSL's or boggers
rear cage to get rid of the plastic one
spread the wiring out a little bit its too cramped into a pile.
3racing winch

anyhoo enough talk onto the pics. just some poser shots. plow it pretty floppy right now, any suggestions on making it solid??

well got the front bump stops removed. was talking to a friend saturday night and he made an order on a axial ax10 and we were thinking about getting together this weekend and beating on the nitro's till they break then bust out the scalers for a little while. too much snow around here still to do any good crawling but there's a few bare spots up at the gravel pit i might be able to thrash the honcho on.

oscodawave 01-10-2011 11:04 AM

looks good"thumbsup"
ill be making a plow soon for mine

AX10wannabe 01-10-2011 03:03 PM

thanks haha... its alright i guess. was in town today doing some bank stuff and mom had to go into canadian tire........... so i walked in as well and browsed around and bought some #16 jack chain to "attempt" to make some tire chains this week.

the plow is just 3 inch ABS pipe cut in half lengthwise. still want to figure out a more "solid" mount. kinda sucks right now because all my RC screws and allen wrenches and stuff are at a friends house so i cant really do a whole lot.

really itching to get this thing out on the rocks and away from the stack of blankets:mrgreen:

discgolferlee 01-10-2011 03:33 PM

soldering iron should be your first investment. then you could have just soldered on your wire and been all fixed"thumbsup"

AX10wannabe 01-11-2011 10:12 AM

^^ haha ya i know, got one of those too but i wanted to crawl not fix it so i just tossed the 55t in it which i was going to do soon anyways.

hmmm.. maybe i can convince my mom to let me put a small table downstairs so i can work on rc's in the house instead of out in the shop. haha..

AX10wannabe 01-13-2011 02:58 PM

well plowed the driveway this morning and came in for lunch, got bored so i set up a little 4'x4' card table downstairs with the laptop and my 14ft of chain and im in the process of making some tire chains. a friend just got his ax10 yesterday morning so we are getting together this saturday for a crawl session... haha... might get some pics in between the crawling and the beer drinking haha.

hanstone 01-13-2011 08:27 PM

I did an internet search and found alot of ideas on chains, I made them for my Clods and my Scx-10. I want to stud some tires next. We just got 2 feet of snow so I need more than chains this week.

AX10wannabe 01-13-2011 10:02 PM

^^ ya no kidding!! i finished up the chains and 2 were tight and 2 were loose took it for a toodle to the shop to show dad and the 2 loose ones started falling off so gonna tweak them a little bit tomorrow. i will get some pictures tomorrow as well.

AX10wannabe 01-14-2011 07:35 PM

got my tires all done and tight to how i want them they look good. will get some pics in a few minutes.

going to a friends house tomorrow to do some rc'ing so i'll try to get some pictures of all of them together, 2 nitro's and 2 crawlers.

got them pictures. i did a test on them and they work pretty good.

AX10wannabe 01-17-2011 11:24 AM

well went over to a friends house this weekend drank some beer and played wiht rc's haha.. he got a new ax10 scorpion so i was "testing" that out most of the time lol. we got into talking about 2.2 tires and stuff, so we put his tires/wheels on my honcho and this is what it looks like, my honcho has stock springs and stuff.

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/a...22Tires002.jpg

then i took a couple pics of both the crawlers. too much snow to bring out the nitro's.

http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/a...22Tires004.jpg

thinking about getting a set of 2.2 boggers for my honcho. not sure yet i got my GST cheque so i got the cash but mom says i cant afford it right now:roll::evil:. we'll see haha. also did a really good test of the chains and they are holding up great got them tight enough that they loosen up too quick.

AX10wannabe 01-17-2011 05:12 PM

been thinking the last few hours about stuff i could do with this thing.

already got a trailer on the go- should probably work on this again soon. thinking about building an RTI ramp for it and probably should build a front bumper soon too. got the material for the roll cage and the bumper just gotta go out to the shop and build them.

AX10wannabe 01-19-2011 11:50 AM

built a quick front bumper still needs mounts and some more welding and cleaning up. made it out of 1/4" solid rod heated with a propane torch and massaged into place with a BFH"thumbsup":lmao::mrgreen:. will get some pics today. i've also been looking at some truggy style roll cages, but still keep the truck bed look lately and might attempt to bend me one.

AX10wannabe 01-20-2011 11:53 AM

sorry guys had some internet problems since about 3pm yesterday afternoon so i didnt get them pictures up. i was really bored without the internet but it was too cold to go out to the shop and build something.

also started playing around with taking some sections off the stock plastic roll cage to see what kind of "looks" i get. might do something like Bender did with his.

just ran downstairs and grabbed some pics of the bumper. first here's a pic of the bumper. bumper is not done yet still have some more welding and grinding to do. its made from 1/4" solid rod from canadian tire. should pick some more up of that stuff i like working with it.
http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/a...Cbumper001.jpg

then here's a pic of it against the honcho. tried to get my arm mostly out of the picture but i see it didnt work lol:mrgreen:"thumbsup" i'll probably roll around with it like this for a while until i get a winch then i'll drop it down a bit.

haha i like it too.. i based it off an HPI nitro savage bumper. its kind of hard because all i got is a MIG welder, but it does the job. haha. because i used a MIG welder the bumper is a little warped and it twisted on me  but nothing a little help from a BFH cant fix gonna wait till i finish welding it up and ground down smooth before i bend it straight lol..

unfortunately its cold outside again, like -4 or 5*C and snowing but i cant get no building done in the house so gotta do everything out in the unheated shop. but got too much stuff to do to sit around the house and do nothing haha..

should get some more pics up this afternoon."thumbsup"

EDIT: just took these pics of the cage, it looks a little weird so im thinking about taking the 2 top pieces off the headache rack part and then for the bottom taking the 2 bars that are parallel to the frame and cutting them right after the 2 holes on the rear bumper. if that makes sense.. haha.. so all thats left is the headache rack part and the bottom between the shock hoops. i'll take one of these pics and add my sweet Paint skills to it and i'll ya what i just tried to explain. haha

tried in paint but it looked like crap so hopefully you get what i mean.lol

AX10wannabe 01-20-2011 06:16 PM

plowed the driveway which is kinda hard because its a sheet of like 1/2" thick ice, i could hang onto the snowblower and let it drag me around the yard:mrgreen:, then finished welding up the bumper and cleaned up the welds, then started making a truck hitch but it turned out like dog crap.

my trailer is 11" wide and 18" long single axle and will have wheels/tires from a new bright RC car. for the trailer to sit level its 3" off the ground but the frame is 4" off the ground. just got an idea.

AX10wannabe 01-20-2011 10:38 PM

update

got the bumper cleaned up might do a little more on it but for the most part its done except for the mount, it did warp some more but i hit it with a big effin hammer while it was still hot and it bent back pretty easy lost some curve to it so put it in a bench vise and hit it with a hammer and it worked awesome.
like i mentioned earlier i got an idea for a hitch, might try that tomorrow. the idea is it to take some steel plate and make a blank bumper with the stock mounts (the same thing that holds the tail lights in) then cut a notch on the bottom then take some key stock (used for lawnmower wheels and stuff) and heat and bend it the shape of a hitch and the drop i need then weld it into the plate and take the taillights out and put the hitch in. might have to weld 2 pieces of key stock side by side to make it wide enough.

might try it tomorrow and see how it goes if it wont work then i guess i'll have to think of something else.

anyhoo here's a pic of the bumper.

so parents and i are going over to Vancouver Island next weekend (leaving the 27th, 28th) to help my grandparents move. since we have to stop in Chilliwack BC i convinced my dad to whip over to a Go Kart and Hobby Shop, they got some cool scaler stuff in there so im putting together a list of stuff i want to check the prices on. its also been a very long time since i've been in that store but they had a fair bit of scaler stuff.

here's what i got on the list so far.

- Tires- 2.2 boggers and wheels (my LHS matches Tower Hobbies prices so if i can get them cheaper than Tower as this other HS im gonna buy them if not then i will wait and order locally.
- 3racing winch
-110mm shocks
- maybe even a waterproof ESC
- alum links

im sure i will think of some more"thumbsup"

crazee horse 01-23-2011 01:37 PM
