Hacked up Newbright TJ (first rig and post!) Hey guys, FIRST POST EVER. Anyways, -Newbright tj body (half doors, fenders cut) -RC4WD tango down wheels -trailbuster tires -110mm ultimate scale shocks -custom bent top, bottom, forward and rear links (ALL BENT) -hitec MG645 high torque servo -integy 65T motor with 12 or 14 tooth pinion can't remember. (super -slow...too slow) 8) -Thunder power 11.1v LiPo. 3c Novak smart stop. -Old, crap futaba ESC -traxxas TQ 2.4ghz receiver... all in a radioshack project box under the hood. -Custom 4 link bracket ...uh what else... OH haha, there's about a pound of steel BBs in each front tire. Keepin it 2008 on this one. about 6 inches of flex and about 4 inches of clearance under the trans. 11 inch WB. I still want to fab up a cage, bumpers and sliders for it. I also need to get some high clearance steering knuckles, then i'm gonna flip the servo and run the tie rod on the backside of the front axle. (i'll have to bend it up of course). Annnd... I think i need to lower the body onto the frame a little more. it's sittin pretty tall. No build pics... Just kind of happened.:twisted: What do you guys think of this beast? eh? eh? Open to suggestions, flames, etc. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5217/...c9ac5eec_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5220/...8c0c6011_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5217/...5dc383fc_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5212/...7488b7ff_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/...a4b10dc4_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5219/...1bf25502_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5219/...efe4d2bc_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5212/...1ac7656e_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/...6545d65d_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5212/...2d61afea_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5211/...c23ace79_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/...44e219fd_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5214/...f5dd6cd4_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5219/...93babff6_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5212/...0914b1b4_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/...f5802cc4_z.jpg |
Holy ****! Thatīs a very nice looking Jeep! Well done! "thumbsup" |
nice lovein them half doors. |
looks good i really like those tires on there "thumbsup" |
holy cow! that things got some flex! |
Looks great"thumbsup" I would also lower the body like you said, and get rid of that cage and make your own. |
Looks great! That thing looks like it has an unusual amount of suspension travel..GREAT JOB!"thumbsup" |
oops haha yeah, it's those shocks and 4 linking it give it all that flex. plus the trailbusters are known to flex sideways a little too much. I haven't tried sidehilling it yet... but yeah i definitely need to lower it now that i've thought about it. COG is still pretty high. i still have yet to put weights in the back wheels so we'll see if that helps. Yeah, i have the map gas and brazing rod to do the cage and others but I have yet to get a map gas rated torch... and i'm still scrounging dumpsters for a plate of steel or aluminum to do the brazing on so i don't burn my apartment down. Probably a bad idea. Might have to go outside and cause a scene. I'm gonna paint the interior too. I'm thinking black and white but i'm not sure yet. or black and gray would be sick. |
Very sick man good job!!! |
Great Jeep :D 4link mount on rear axle <----- "thumbsup" |
it looks like a great start! but heres what id change shorter shocks (would give you better COG), trim the chassis, and straight upper links |
Looks like a good start"thumbsup" |
badass! need to lower the body like mentioned, and i think that the tires are a liiitttllleeee too skinny. maybe some 2.2s :lmao: lol anyways, nice rig man! |

Is there a particular reason for having straight uppers or is it just to look more scale? (i've read about this, but it just seems that people want it to look more scale) |
badass - making the decision between a TJ or a 4dr JK that much harder |
Nice, but your trailbusters are mounted backwards  |

I guess it wouldn't matter that much on these tires specifically cuz there's no "pockets" on the tire... oh well. hahaha |
AWESOME BUILD!!! how do you like those tires and those shocks? im thinking about getting those shocks myself "thumbsup" |
I used to reverse my tires on my ride when I used to race MTs, and it did give me more traction, but was kind of hairy in the fast corners if the surface got blown out. I could certainly see it working for crawling. |
awsome scaler you got there, i like the white background, and the black paint job "thumbsup" |
