scx10 jeep comanche I Finally started my first scale build. I got a trail ready honcho about a month ago. All that I have done so far is put a waterproof esc in it and waterproof the rest of the electronics. My commanche body and pl-c floor pan should be here tomarrow. I will try to get some pictures up soon. Any feedback will be awesome. Also if anyone has that floor pan how does it work , do the tires rub too bad or anything? Here is what I am starting with. I'm sure you have all seen this before http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...515/Image1.jpg |
Awesome, are you going to keep the bed cage? I want to get one of these bodies soon. |
Ya I ordered the body with the bed that is made for the cage. Next thing I am planning is a Hand Bro's steering kit and some rc4wd mud slingers. |
Finished body yesterday I got the body all finished yesterday. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Rubs a little I was wondering if anyone knows where to get longer body mounting posts for the scx 10. I just need it a little higher and it won't rub. http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...515/130191.jpg http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...515/130193.jpg http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...5/IMG_0020.jpg http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...5/IMG_0021.jpg http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...5/IMG_0018.jpg |
Let's hear some feedback. I would like to know what you guys think. Just keep in mind it is far from finished. |
D@mn, i been working on my comanchee for like a month and still not finished. and my paint job sux so far(first time) . but, i also have been doing a lot of other little things to my scx. as far as body posts, why not make some alum ones and just trim down to your desired legnth? I cannot believe you just got that and it's already trimmed/painted and mounted. I see i need to get busy here. looks nice, i like the triple black treatment. |
Ya , this is my first body job too. I busted my ass for two days on it. I kind of did a hack job trimming the body. I used a dremel tool with a cut off wheel to cut it out roughly and sanded down the edges with a drum sander. It worked pretty good next time I just need to be more a little more careful and take my time. As far as paint goes I just used tamiya color spray paint for polycarbonate. It only took about 15 mins to do I just made sure that the body was super clean first. |
I'm digging the looks of that Jeep body.. Nice work man she fits like a glove.. "thumbsup" |
too funny and here i was thinkin i was the only one using a dremel drum. I used a rough drum for initial and gonna use a fine drum for finish. I'll get busy on it an post some in my build, just hope it comes out as good as yours. |
I am digging that black paint job. |
Looks good, have you tried lexan sizzors, they work great you should be able to get them at your lhs. I'm not thinking the dremmeling is very fun. I like the jeep good work.8) |

Looks great- You could throw on some some window tint paint so the internals are not so visible. (a personal preference) Clean body though! |

I figured out a way to get longer mounting posts. I cut the bottom half of the big rear posts off and flattened the ends off and glued them to the front posts using extra strength super glue. It probably won't hold up to much abuse. But thats what I got for now I guess. http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...en1515/002.jpg |
Nice comanche..."thumbsup" I installed the floor pan on mine and i trimmed the front part of the front inner fenders. you can see a part of it in this picture.;-) http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/3998/1000342.jpg |
Some old cheap shocks. They are 130mm , Way too tall I think and way too stiff it rolls really easy. I will probably have to get some 110 or 120 mm.:lmao: http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...en1515/001.jpg |
wow love how u made that work with ur tuber bed. that worked out nice. what company did u get ur body from? |
It is made by proline. I got it from rpphobby.com though it was about $20 cheaper from there |
Well I already tore the bed off the cage. I figured that would happen. After getting caught on the rocks a few times it broke all the lexan where the screws attach. If you are planning on getting this body I would recommend ditching the cage and getting the full bed. Also I have a custom made team3six Honcho interior and some 110 mm shocks on the way. I will post some pics when I get them installed. |
