Thanks man. I've been meaning to do an update.

Your comment made me go back and look at all the pics... it's pretty cool.

Well, another season down.

Melons kicked so much butt this season that she won me an Ascender!
We finished over -200 points ahead of 2nd!

Not sure I'll make any changes for next season... maybe clean her up a bit and repair the broken bumper and slider but that should be about it.

Here's a few pics from the past few months of adventure (I took Melons to WI last weekend and met up with some cool RCC members) and the scores (missing very last comp/also cut off the last few drivers... there were 48 drivers in this class) from last season.

and, Melons got voted Ugly Duckling at ECSC this year!

I had a blast but didn't do great. I think we placed 7th... I'll be ready next year!

Not much... she's dialed in so I don't want to make any drastic changes.

I'll probably just fix her broken bumper and slider and clean her up a bit... maybe paint the sliders, bumpers and chassis.

EDIT: ohh yeah, and kick more butt! lol
Planning on:
Scale Nationals
ECSC (maybe a couple of the comps depending on location. I'm assuming they'll hit PA and MO)
KOG (Ohio)
KNK TTC (Ohio)
WI camping and scaling trip
NIRC Cliffs TTC
NWITTC series

After many years of abuse, my bumper/stinger finally gave out beyond repair.

So, on to the new... I bought this bumper a long time ago but didn't use it because it was so big. I'm sure it's in this thread a ways back...

I cut it way down, got rid of a lot of the depth and width.
I like it.

So the NWITTC series that Melons won last season changed all the rules up (probably because Melons spanked the competition! lol )

Now, max size Class 2 tires are at the tiny end of Weekend Warrior Class tire size where the old PL 2.2 TSL's are at the max size.

So, I can either:
1. Run Melons as is against much larger tires
2. Go down a class and run 1.9 IROK's (max size in Trail Ready Class)
3. Go up a class and run the old 2.2 PL TSL SX (max size in Weekend Warrior Class)

Here are my Class 2 tires (PL 1.9 TSL XL) on the rear with 1.9 IROK's and 2.2 TSL SX on the front.

I think I'll take her down a class and build a new rig around the 2.2 TSL XL's.
I was thinking a Wraith with XR mod axles and 2.2 TSL XL's but they have some silly rule that a Wraith in that class must run SCX10 axle's on 1.9 wheels... I have no idea why when a SCX10 can run what ever axles and 2.2 wheels.

So, now I'm thinking of building a super light weight SCX10 chassis, XR Mod axles and 2.2 TSL's and running my original black Buxom Melons body!

One of the rules that's gonna get me if I run in Trail Rated Class is:
• Full Width front bumper is needed (may be part of body)
*No bumper or narrow bumper is allowed but will receive a 4 point penalty*

I'm not crazy about that... but I'm not changing Melons over it either.
She's legal in SORRCA and that's what matters to me...

So, Melons has a set of used 1.9 IROK's on the way to run in her new Trail Ready Class in the next NWITTC season.

Also have a set of JCAD extended upper link risers on the way.
I started to instal a set of risers that I won from KOG but realized they didn't clear the Pro4... but thought they were super neato so bought the correct set.

Broke one of these on their maiden voyage within the first 2 mins... the thing came unbonded, sheared it right down the middle.
Not real happy with 3d printed parts at the moment.

I haven't been out at all this season... life stuff.

But, it looks like things are lining up for King Of The GURU's 2015 and Melons will be doing work... in possibly all 3 classes!

She's running C1 and C2 for sure.
She won C2 last year.

Ordering these now:

Krypton 1.9 Scale Tires

RC4WD 1.9 Krypton. Class 1 legal.
I really liked them this past weekend.
They hooked up great in the loose dirt and gripped well on rock.

And
Thanks Joe! It was great to get to an event this weekend.
Melons did well but I didn't drive good enough to place... I'll post my scores here once they are posted.

Melons got 5th in C1 (2nd before scale points) and much worse in C2... 14th I think.

I'm going to do something I've been considering for a while now... build a new high scale point Melons around this:
