RcBros New Leaf Spring Kit 2011

It has been brought to our attention in the recent months that are kit was ready for a performance update. It seemed to be lacking a few essentials that would allow the kit to preform better for its users.

Before I break into a few new details, I'd like to remind those interested in the kit that leaf springs do take some patience. Like real 1:1 rigs the steel spring steel leafs have a break in period. The leafs will become softer with repetitive use and overtime a leaf spring rig can preform and flex just as well as a scaled 4 linked rig.

With our testing shocks should be used for scale appearance in most circumstances rather then be used to tune your suspensions performance.

Leaf springs are not for those users who wish to heavily abuse there rigs, the leaf springs simply cannot hold up to the abuse. This needs to be considered and understood when running them.

Now, onto our revisions.

Both front and rear axle mounts have been changed. We've removed the shock mounts and recessed the holes for proper alignment on the axle. Those wishing to run other chassis' now have the ability to angle the leaf spring mount left to right slightly if needed.

The rear mounts we've slightly increased pinion angle for better clearance as well.

The front leaf spring mounts we slightly decreased the past pinion angle to help fix past caster issues increasing scrub radius to help decrease steering radius.

To help with the leaf spring alignment we have adjusted the mounting location on the axle mount, and also changed our shackles. This has helped and eased the install process too!

Overall, we feel the kit will be much better suited for our future customers and will be releasing the kit very soon!!

I hope to have them in stock by the end of this week. I am working on fixing issues with my cart system. Once thats fixed the kits will be updated and for sale.

Complete kit, Front kit, and rear kit will be available. Prices will be the same as before.

They look great! Like all the changes, but would of liked to see the shock mounts stay. Any chance of another version with shock mounts? Or perhaps another addition or "adapter" for adding a shock mount?

We've found most of customers opted to use the stock axle mount for the shocks which left the mount looking exceptionally bulky. With the mount removed it tends to hide the mount a tad more and shock options are easier to find. Before a 70mm shock was best and well there was maybe 2 options on the market for that size.

The positives outweighed the negatives which is why we opted for the change.

The changes look good, a lot cleaner installation but the rear shackles has me worried- trimming the cross member?? Is there another way to do that part?

The prior version completely eliminated the rear cross member, without cutting the rear cross member your shackles will not flex. A quick hit with a round wheel and a dremel is all that is needed. Keep in mind that this kit is to adapt another style suspension to a leaf sprung rig. Like like the real thing, when this is done, some modifications are needed.

how does this kit work with the stock steering ? thanks

On the older kit, the steering link clear ed the leafs fine, and a CMS bracket was provided to chassis mount the steering. Everything cleared fine.
