what shocks are you guys running?

Quick question. I will be upgrading soon because of this major torque twist problem I have. Just wanted to know what works best for you guys so I can narrow down my choices.

traxxas big bores

shcuck 06-15-2011 07:16 AM

I recently installed the GMade Zero shocks and they have been great so far. Also the price is reasonable at $45 for all 4.

Here Are some pics comparing to the stock and installed

Hope this helps

IM running traxxas for the fronts right now and the losi crawler with the stock scorpion spring for the rear because its much harder. Those gmade shocks are nice whered you get them.?

shcuck 06-15-2011 08:26 AM

BTW changing shocks will only band-aid your torque twist, not solve it.
Not saying don't get better shocks, it's a great investment, but suspension geometry is the key to reducing twist.

solomon7 06-15-2011 11:02 AM

Ditto on the post above mine. Geometry is what produces and fixes torque twist.
On my 2.2 I'm using XR10 shocks, at 50/50. They're easy to find and cheap since everyone upgrades their Xr10. Use the traxxas big bore shock rebuild diaphragms as the stock XR10's are silicon and totally suck at holding a seal.
The droop is controled by internal springs that also act as limiters, and I have Mini T springs outside for upstroke. 70w rear 45w front.

custom length Stock SCX10 shocks"thumbsup" TT can be fixed through link geometry and spring/shock oil rates too"thumbsup"

csagaz 06-15-2011 02:57 PM

Big bores with mini t springs."thumbsup"

Just like the rest of these guys said, it's more about geometry than shocks... However, I'm running the RC4WD 100mm scale shocks on my rig and have nothing to complain about. Theyre awesome!
Good luck in resolving your torque twist issues.

Frankenwheely 06-15-2011 06:25 PM

Traxxas front slash shocks on all 4 points.

2500hdon37s 06-15-2011 06:43 PM

stock works great, you have other problems if you have tourqe twist!

jdacus 06-15-2011 07:06 PM

Axial's alumminum scale shocks. nice and smooth"thumbsup"

DAMMMMM!!!! my mistake everyone. My mind said torque steer but my fingers typed out torque twist. I got rid of my torque twist problem about a month ago and now this steering problem came out. Its so bad when i go on reverse the wheel will turn almost full right. Going forward is kind of different. If i slightly pull on the trigger its fine but when full throttle itll pull right and turn on it own. Once again my mistake for typing it out wrong.

Are you running a chassis mounted servo?

That would be my guess, and no pan hard bar"thumbsup"

JS412 06-16-2011 04:45 PM

Torque twist fix with shocks? I fixed my torque twist by flipping my transmission so that the spur gear faces the front of the car and then swapping out my axle gear for over/under drive.

BTW proline scale shocks in front and stock axial in rear.
