Deven's Scx10 Build thread well it started as a stock dingo http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...0106112251.jpg i decided to rearrange its guts so that it handled a little better, moved the battery to the front and moved the receiver to the rear shock tower http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...r/107_3170.jpg i decided to remove the flares, trim the bumpers, and add a bikini top http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...r/107_3172.jpg next was a new body, i went with the proline cherokee xj body, and chose tamiya metallic green as the color but decided to leave the flares on the body uncut http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...0225112048.jpg i decided to waterproof and got a "project box" from the shack and cut out the aluminum insert to fit the esc http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...28at2249-1.jpg next, i decided to install the stock bumpers and rock rails, while i painted the rockers black and trimmed out the flares and added the fuel cell which is just the receiver box that is scratched and painted for scale effect http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...6-22at2019.jpghttp://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...6-22at2023.jpghttp://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...6-22at2022.jpg and finally, i have made a custom tie rod, made out of 5.5mm shot peened titanium rod http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...6-22at2020.jpghttp://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...-22at20192.jpg i am currently waiting on parts i ordered from ckrc, im waiting for the novak goat 2s brushless 21.5t crawler system, 3racing winch and fairlead, proline scale interior, and integy aluminum threaded 108mm shocks, and of course stickers:flipoff: |
I like it! Any thoughts of adding the proline interior?? |
Very Clean I dig it man Justin |

He SPECIFICALLY said he's waiting for the ProLine interior! Anyways Deven, you got a good start on what looks like it will be an awesome rig! I look forward to seeing the progress updates on this one. BTW, good choice on the body... ProLine XJ's are BADASS!!! I know cuz I have one too! Lol Keep up the good work! |
thanks i appreciate the feedback, i had a bit of a setback with ckrc, my order was held in limbo for about a week because the ae-2 is on backorder for a few more weeks, so i decided to just go with the novak 2s brushless goat crawler system, also got a bit carried away and got more lights and a 3racing winch haha will have pics of everything installed within the next 2 days, as of right now the interior is in, and shocks are on, and just got the novak system and the winch today... but i am kind of afraid that waterproofing the novak setup wont be easy or even possible, the box might cause it to get too hot, and the motor might be too sensitive, ill just have to read up before i try anything |

Is that the 1"x 2"x 3" project box? I was looking for one at my local RS but all they had was bigger ones. |

ok, so everything else came yesterday, and i stayed up late to get it all set up, and did, i got it running for about 5 mins and battery died at about 330am, and decided enough was enough, today i got the winch installed, and got it out a bit heres from last night http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...-28at02532.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...6-28at0256.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...6-28at0251.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...6-28at0253.jpg and heres from some of it in action http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...0628112104.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...628112049a.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...0628112049.jpg so, overall it performed great, slower than i would like, but plenty of power, control, flex, and stability, it took a beating... for a bit, and developed a problem, havent checked into it yet, but what happened was the LF wheel quit spinning under a load, must have blown out the locker, or stripped the axle on the end, so thats it, other than an adjustment on the tie rod, battery mounts, finishing the lights, waterproofing/mounts, the only thing that is preventing me from gettin it back out is the axle, which may not stop me:flipoff: after all, its already destroyed on the inside haha, plans for new axles next  |

haha, i would have had pics sooner, but paint wasnt done yet |
never mind, i found out that the axle was just fine, i was running the factory axial wheel spacers and they were too much, and allowed the hex to slip and round out the inside of the wheel, easy fix, just put the alum. ones back in and all was good |
