Default Bills New Honcho

Just bought myself an RTR Honcho as fancied a stab at the scale side.

Out of the box some aspects of the kit are really nice and some not so. I was disappointed at the plastic links and the flimsy feel of the front bumper but then it drives sooooo smooth. Anyway I've been reading all your write ups on modifications and hop ups and so set about doing some. I'll list below and then put some pics in.

1, Fitted Savox 16kilo servo with an answerrc horn.
2, Fitted wheel weights both front and rear.
3, Fitted Dingo rear bumper.
4, Fitted Dingo front bumper.
5, Modified how the bumper is attached so now its held 4 times not 2.
6, Removed battery tray and slung my Lipo saddle pack low level on each side of the chassis.
7, Fitted Junfac skid plates which support the batteries too.
8, Changed from 3 link to 4 link in aluminum.
9, Replaced ESC for a Rooster and motor for a 35T Novak motor.
10, Fitted torsion bars to front suspension.
11, Fitted G-made shocks as a trial, but have immediately gained (plus the 4 link) 30mm more articulation (one wheel off the ground).
12, Fitted spare weights to top of servo to give it that bit extra traction as the batteries are in the middle.
13, Fitted winch, tested and working just needs 3rd channel to control from TX.
14, Fitted suspension adapters so can go from 1.9 to 2.2 instantly.

Now my TO DO list.
1, Fit Junfac Drive shafts when they arrive.
2, Fit extra LED lights.
3, Fit Spektrum receiver.
4, Make a better battery holder.
5, Once all the electrics are finished am going to run all the lights inside black heat shrink so the multi colored cables vanish.
6, Start on Scale detail on the shell
7, Do a really tidy job on the cabling as this is just chucked in till rest of electronics arrive.

Pictures say a thousand words so here they are

Fosters... it's UK for SCX10

Like it. Nice bunch of mods to the rig. I forgot how nice it is to be wrenching on a clean new rig. Makes me want a new kit. Maybe the beginning of the year as I can not spend the $ on myself right now with xmas coming up. Saw a Wraith kit assembled (minus electronics) yesterday and it made me . Wants one now.

Yeh this is gonna be a shelf queen till my axle guards, and centre skid plate arrive, don't want to muller the axles, just yet.
Still I've got my R1 to keep busy till they show up.
Buy the Wraith! Do it!

Truck looks good!
Do you have your shocks configured mostly droop or mostly sprung?

They're set at droop, but I'm kind of translating settings over from my crawler.

So its not proven on the dirt yet but is handling quite well

I am considering the same shocks, but I think I would run them sprung in the terrain I am normally on. The extra ground clearance is needed for me. I considered getting some longer shocks and do some spring mods to run about 50% sprung 50% droop. That way I could get the clearance I like but gain some flex. But I'll probably just try a set of those shocks and go from there.

If you've got or get some of the height adapters you could really fine tune in either droop or sprung. They're meant for 1.9 to 2.2 adaption but they to me are just adjusters.

Well put a few good hours in today doing the following.

I inverted the shocks as I put them back to standard rather than droop, but then they were too high and caught on the top shock mount so inverting them solved that.

Fitted hardened Junfac drive shafts. Horrible job as one of the existing grub screws stripped itself so had to drill it out NIGHTMARE but done with the cuts and holes to prove it.

Completely remapped my wiring and electronics out and put as much as I could inside heat shrink to make it less visible on its travels around the chassis. Mounted all the RX, winch controller, light splitter in a project box and mounted the esc to another.

What length are your g-transition shocks? I've considered those.

They are 90mm but can be run sprung or droop sort of 60/30 in either direction depending on how you want to run it. You would have to play about with oils to make any other adjustment though.

They are half the price of axial scx10 alloy shocks, well they are in the UK.

Small update, still waiting on some scale bits but the ones I have are now fitted and painted if required.

Modified the lights bar so it could sit in front of the roof rack, just thought it was too high on top. Dropped the body shell 2 pins so it sits on the sliders and is more in line with the raised front bumper as well.

Cheers mate, the side skid bars are Junfac ones direct bolt on for the honcho.

Once I get the rest of the detailing done hopefully this week I'll post some action pics.
All my baby's together!

suggestion - take a razor blade (new one) and cut the clear off of the windows - it will give it a much cleaner clearer look.
