Default Maine: The way scale crawling should be

Had a fantastic morning out at the Harbor with Mark and Kyle despite the 23° temps and lots of wind.

Kyle gave his new HPI EB body a solid thrashing despite it's sexy looks. Mark flogged the XJ and gave the D90 a good solid trail ride down at the Wiggly bridge. My Taco did what it always does and just kept on trucking

In the harbor we have a pretty nice scale crawl line...likely level with what Jackhammer or Sledgehammer would have been back in the day...essentially, if you drove your 1:1 there you were assured body damage and some mechanical carnage...thankfully, with the Axial's, we're way overbuilt on a scale level and had no such nasty stuff, just some scrapes and the odd nuked body mount

Off to the Bridge and the River

...and can I just say, Mark's braze work on his D90 bumper is great! Have to have him build me a rack for the disco!

Thanks RJ I actually rushed it and it is only ok. I actually did the tube part last night after working the Hospital job and painted it. It was still a little wet this morning. The Bumper is made from 3/4 square tube that I cut the ends, bent them and filled with solder. The mounts for it are just flat metal 1/2 inch that I cut openings in the front and rear of the bumper. So the D ring mounts on the front are actually the bumper mounts that run all the way through the bumper. makes it real strong this way. bumper was made previously but I had to drill new mounts, and do the tube work. Cory did my 1:1 rear bumper this way for my Jeep. The tube is brake line and the hoop light guards are solid (for smaller bends). The paint looks like poo. I painted it in poor light while I had had a few beers (doing the tube work) and was tired. But i wanted it on there for today. You texted that morning saying we are going...get your poop together, so I was under the gun as always.

That was a great ride. Pictures do not do your rig justice. I wasn't a huge fan when I saw the pictures this week. But it looks incredible in person. Kyle's rig is stunning as well. The paint on that is a great color. Just a great run. Short and to the point. We have to run longer next time. Hollie will keep the kids occupied so you can have more fun and not have to be constant dad. Hard to film, drive and keep the kids entertained.

I have a few pics on my Blackberry that I will add once I get them loaded. it's cool we live here. Nice scenic wheeling spots. Live on the relative coast. 1 hour from Boston. 1 hour from White mountains. Trails and rocks everywhere. Beaches Yeeeeawww

It sounds quite warm down where you guys are... we've got single digits into negative numbers here in Rangeley. I'm putting together an SCX-10 at the moment to replicate a Border Patrol Jeep Rubicon Unlimited... will post pics when done. Still working on a source for the appropriate decals.

Matt, our local shop does all sorts of custom decals...great quality. They've done vinyl wraps for bikes I've made as well as tiny scale decals.

Great pics guys. One of the first things that came to mind when I got into this hobby was if I ever travel to Maine again, I'm taking my SCX 10. I used to vacation on spruce head isle. Beautiful area.

Sorry to jump in here. But You are building a crawler course at Maximus? Will you be hosting comps? scale comps? 2.2 comp rigs? its a bit of a ride for me (RI) but would be in for a lil comp action.
