I run cms in comps and it performs just as well. It's all in the setup.

Also had to mount the serv 180 degrees, from the op.

But seems to work . Swapping the front end to 4 link tomorrow

Sitting normal

Full droop

And compressed (still slightly hits the servo horn)

You need to run your drag link to the passenger side knuckle. That setup you have there will not work well.

It was Swapped over once I had more material to make a longer link.

I did exactly what was stated in this thread on a stock kit build. There is very little clearance from the servo to the axle and the front tie rod. The servo is a hitec 7954

The servo sits way too low with how this works. The arm should be up higher, just barely clearing the bottom of the chassis rail while steering. I tried this in the past but wasn't happy and ended up using the stock plate as a template.

That has been my experience as well.

Did you make your own Servo plate?

I'm thinking of just getting the vanquish set with panhard because it comes with the panhard. But that will be later

I should take pictures of my setup, installed the 3rd link, so the axle doesnt twist, installed the panhard with the GCM kit, the opposite side of where the panhard is attached to axle flex just fine, but the side where the panhard is attached is a pain in the derriere...doesnt flex much by itself... even wirh my hands, it's hard to flex...any ideas of what could cause that?

i believe the panhard bar needs to be the same length as the steering link and at the same angle through it's travel. It's why the vanquish set up works so well. It should run like a parallelogram but when they don't fit the properties of a parallelogram, it will bind

Flip the servo around. Hand Bros, but should be close to the same.

The hand bros mount is in a better position than reusing the servo plate, check out the earlier pics where the top of the servo cases sits below the rail.

That's what i see. The hand bros and vanquish set the Servo much higher on the frame. I see that now. At least it was fun building this.

I have a problem with getting the vanquish cms because I have the high steer knuckles.

I see this ill fitted coil spring design on more and more rigs...

why ? ...because it's easy to do ?

fact of the matter...

using this method limits compression travel... (down)
and as the coil spring compresses on itself...
the spring's compression becomes the CO's compression limiter.

maybe only a few millimeters...
but in my book... every millimeter counts.

to each their own of course...
guess I just don't get it !?

Coil bind... the rate approaches, or goes to infinity. It almost makes sense on comp crawler with their ridiculously falling rate but makes zero sense on a scaler. It was more about clearance on comp crawlers. I could Google exact numbers for a given spring length for its rate to remain correct before it goes into coil bind, and I know it's not nearly as much as one would think, but I'm too lazy and I doubt anyone really cares.

I think the original idea was to minimize the outside diameter of the whole shock to help squeeze more steering angle before the tires hit the springs (that's why I did it.) It was more a comp rig thing but as you say "to each his own."

A lot of folks round here are fine with just enough travel.

This guide is awesome, thank you very much! With the servo mounted on the axle my wires were rubbing the cross members bad and destroyed 2 servos, but now I no longer have that problem! Just need to figure out how to arrange my electronics now, lol. Again, thanks!
