I really like the look too. These were on this truck with the other bodies so I gave them a look. I also have some 1.55 mud thrashers which are a little smaller that should fit without rubbing.

I also just got the stock size tires with the BF Goodrich white letters.

I'll post some pics soon with all the different tires to see which look best.

Again, I'll probably use different tire/wheel combinations for different situations.

I'm also working on a Comanche twin to this Cherokee, if i didn't have to work I'd be finished both of them already. (but I'd have no money to buy them either, lol. Catch 22)

Time for an update.

I've been busy with life stuff lately but did manage a little more progress on the Cherokee.

I've been wanting to try out open diffs (Un-locked), front and rear, just for grins to see how realistically I can get stuck. lol

So I got the parts from axial, don't know when I'll try these out but it should be interesting.

I have several tire/wheel combos to choose from now.

Also have been working on lights.

I'm short on time right now so I'll let the pictures tell the story for now.

Thanks, your right the shocks are upside down, good eye.
I wanted them to look like a 1:1 shock which are mounted with the shaft up and the shock boots showing. These shocks have an internal spring and no oil (just a few drops to smooth out the movement), so you can use them either way.
I turn the truck upside down and work the shocks a little before I go wheelin' to get the oil on everything.

The diff gears etc. are still made by Axial, I got them at Tower Hobbies.
You can use the pics I posted for the part numbers if you want to order them.
You can use your old diff cases if you want, I just ordered new ones to have spare sets with diff gears installed already.

I dont think it looks bad at all with the bigger tires and higher stance.

Has that look of a truck built to do some serious off-roading on weekends,
but still be a steadfast daily driver....

...With a touch of the "intimidation factor" added for those on the
road in front of it that drive too slowly, or dont pay attention when the light turns green!

Thanks for posting the part#s...I've been wanting to unlock the front for a long time!! Also, what shocks are those and do they work well at all? (any rebound)...I'm using the stock axial shocks with just a drop of oil and I'd like some rebound control but any oil I put in those shocks ends up on the ground after 1 run.

also..are the o-rings and shafts necessary to switch to an open front end? I don't remember those parts when I put my axle together but it's been a while...

edit: I'm assuming the shafts are for the spider gears.....what are the o-rings for?

Traxxas #4761 on my scx10, with 3 hole pistons and 20w oil. Stock spring go on them just nice.

Nice flex, and no bounce, and most importantly no mess. The leaky scx10 shocks amaze me, as the rest of it is so awesome.

I like the way the Mud Slingers look on there very much also. (if that's the tires you are referring to)
I built this truck to look like my 1:1 stock Cherokee Laredo so that's why I'm messing around with the small tires.
Once I get plenty of video and pictures in stock form I will probably put some bigger tires on there.
The slightly smaller Mud Thrashers in the tire lineup pictures (second from left) will probably be the best fit and function without any cutting of the fender flairs.
I am trying to avoid any body hacking on this truck so I will eventually go with the biggest tire that doesn't rub.
I have plenty of other bodies I will be using big tires on.

Your right, the 3x22mm shafts go through the diff side gears. (the small ones)
The O-rings go behind the big diff gears. (see pic below)

Also the shocks are 100mm scale shocks from RC4WD.
You have to get the 50% lighter springs that they sell, the stock springs are way too stiff. (they should come with the lighter springs really)
The shocks are Okay but I only got them for the looks, they work good but not great. There not high performance shocks, more for show than go.

Thanks for the pic...never thought of looking at the manual lol!

I wonder if you could use extra o-rings to act like clutch packs in a limited slip differential. If I do this I'll use the absolute thickest grease I can find and maybe experiment with some adhesive sandpaper (3000 grit or so) to try and make clutch packs. I think a true LS differential would be really cool :)

The diff assembly pic is from an early AX10 manual I downloaded from the Axial website.
The AX10 is where many of the parts originated for the SCX10 as you may know.
They use the same rears and trans. etc.

The limited slip would be cool but I think it will be tough to work out and in the end it might be easier to just use a locker. lol

I will! I have a locker now but I think the realism of an ls or open diff would be more enjoyable crawling around. I'll try to find a spare axle to play with:)

Work was rained out today so I had time to get the headlights in with a little Shoe Goo and also hooked up the Opto coupled switch to the receiver's channel three and plugged the light unit into it.
This makes it so the lights can be turned off and on by the transmitter's channel three button.
The headlights are incandescent lights (Tungsten filaments) just like the full scale Jeep headlights, not LED's, so they give off a very realistic light color and brightness.
The lights are also powered through the receiver so there is no need for a separate battery.
