After trying out the lights, I finished adding the wheel weights to the steel wheels and mounted the RC4WD Mud Thrasher tires.
The front wheels have 6oz. of weight each and the rear's have 3oz..
I don't use the included foam inserts, and this gives the tires a nice air filled realism.
I bolted the wheels to the truck and used the RC4WD "locking hub" nuts on the front.
With stock wheel flairs, these tires seem to be the best fit without rubbing.
Here are some pics of the tires on the truck.

Hey, I'm loving this build. I have a very similar one going, its going to match my 1:1 Cherokee. One thing I must know, what size are those smaller tires? The ones with the "bf Goodrich are an exact match to my 1:1 tires. I have to order everything I buy so the info would really help. Thanks man, again, amazing build.

Here is a link to the BF Goodrich tires on Ebay. Don't know how long this link will be good for.

Mud Thrasher tires here:
Mud Thrashers 1.55 Scale Tires

Steel Wheels here:
Stamped Steel 1.55 Stock White Beadlock Wheel

I highly recommend ordering an extra set of screws for the steel wheels as the are ridiculously easy to round out the hex or strip.
Order here:

Had a couple minutes after work today so I started on the "open" diffs.
Tomorrow I'll finish them up when the new increased angle front universal shafts and aluminum steering knuckle/c-hubs arrive in the mail.

Really digging your build. I am working on an XJ myself, but so far I have been struggling with the interior. Your tire/wheel choice, and lights, are impeccable, very well done!

Hey thanks man!

More to come on this build, not finished just yet.
I also have to get the identical Comanche to match it finished soon and of course make some extensive action videos of them together.

Liquid mask is all I use on all my bodies racing, scale or crawling. Its pretty easy to work with just make sure you do multiple coats and let it each coat dry completly. Also watch out for florescent colors the mask doesn't like them as much. But I have used it inside and outside of bodies depending on what I wanted done. And on door trims and such sharpie makes an oil based marker almost like oil paint. It is much tougher and won't just rub off with your fingers. Lasts longer but be careful once it drys it is much more permenant than the original sharpie..

This is a great build by the way keep up the good work. Makes me want to blow the dust off my wifes cherokee and really fix her up.

might be getting remnants of a HSP 1/10 crawler, if it eventuates ill have to throw the open center in the front to match my XJ when i get around to building it!

i must say, as awesome as it looks, you have a ton of lift for a "stock" cherokee... stock height leaves the sills just less than level with the top of the rims.

Yes, I agree, but you spoke to soon. lol
I have shorter shocks coming in the mail today.
They will be used for the smaller BF Goodrich tires with the mesh wheels for a low stock look.
But for the Mud Thrashers with steel wheels I will need to leave the longer shocks on to keep the tires from hitting the fender flairs.

Before I put the floor pan in, the body could sit much lower, but the floor pan sits on top of the frame rails and that keeps the body from sitting lower.
Of course the full scale Cherokee is a unibody (no frame rails) so there is no way to really get it exactly the same but it's good enough for an RC replica.

Good eye though, and thanks for your comments.
