| Cherokee build - Very Scale - SCX10
I Needed to replace my S10 pickup hardbody that I recently destroyed in some overzelous trail climbing so I got to work on this Proline Cherokee I had sitting here. Still need to put the interior in and also need to get a floor pan for it. I have the longer floor pan for the Honcho wheelbase but I need the shorter one for the Dingo wheelbase. Anyone have a short floor pan to part with? Anyway, here are some pics of the progress so far. Last edited by Spidernad; 01-06-2023 at 02:29 PM. |

love it! especially the wheels. but those hummer tires are terrible for offroad. rock hard and terrible tread.

I kinda figured that about the tires, I already have some other tires and wheels in the ready, these are just for show and some mild trail runs / video shoots. | |

| Re: Cherokee build - Very Scale - SCX10 Thanks, I wrestled with the idea of a hard mounted body or Velcro but after all the work on my last hardbody to make hidden mounts I just wanted it to be easy to get to the battery etc. I'm not going for scale competition or anything, I want to put this truck through the paces after some pics / videos of it still pristine. Here is a pic of my last body, (S10) Last edited by Spidernad; 01-06-2023 at 02:28 PM. |

You need to do a coil spring front and leaf spring rear, then you will be very close to scale handling.

So I got the interior started and a driver fitted on the Cherokee last night. I also used a panel line pen to paint lines around the doors. (what a pain in the ass) Here is the progress. Last edited by Spidernad; 01-06-2023 at 02:29 PM. |

The Proline interior was designed before Axial started putting spur gear covers on these trucks, so you have to remove the cover and just use the old style spacers that come with the kit, unless you want to modify the interior. |

The scale (sort of) shocks and the red boots are from RC4WD. The shocks are 100mm but the springs were way too stiff, they offer 1/2 strength springs that I had to get and install. (they should just come that way, right) |

Well it's gonna be awhile till my floor pan arrives for the Cherokee and I'm jonesing to get out and crawl again, so last night I put the body aside and did a quick build up of the Dingo body to use as my general purpose crawler body. Had some Ferrari Red paint I hadn't used so I gave it a whirl and came up with this. My son grabbed his Dingo too and we headed to the trails. What a blast! Now I feel better. Took some video too. Here is some video of my son's SCX10 Rock Crawler conquering some tough hills, complete with several fails and amusing back flips. Any time I tell my son that a hill is to steep to climb he has to prove me wrong! lol |

Oh sorry, he's Gale from Hunger Games. Perfect scale for 1/10 and looks like just a normal dude, not those goofy looking unrealistic muscle men figures you see in some trucks. Last edited by Spidernad; 05-19-2012 at 10:19 PM. |

hey, very nice looking rig. What tires and wheels are those in the first pictures? I like how scale they look and would like to get a set for display purposes. Any help is very much appreciated. Also, what do you do for door cracks and the "spaces" simulated on the body? do you just use a fine point sharpie to fill them in to create depth? Its a nice touch that people don't seem to do often. Thanks |
