Default my hilux truggy

I've had a rtr honcho that i picked up in a trade for about a month..it was partially assembled when i got it, i had to finish it up and get it running. the previous owner had installed all new gears in the axles and robinson racing gears in the tranny..it had a few upgrade, but not much..i changed some things to make it more of my own..and recently i purchased a hilux cab and a custom made set of sliders and a rear truggy cage from a member of our crawler club..all the metal work is tig welded and looked great..i painted the metal work black and my son picked out a blue for the body..anyways on to the pics..comments/suggestions welcomed..it sits on 2.2 hammers now, i have 1.9 flat irons also i could use..i also have a set of gmade ts01 silver shocks with internal springs im going to put on tomorrow..let me know what you think....im not done with the cab yet, getting decals for it and mirrors and a back for the cab..

i took it out around the house to play a little and see how it would handle..then i came in and changed some stuff a little..took the pics with my iphone, so they may not be the best..
cut the front bumper..

got my rod ends from rc4wd, and got rid of the plastic links, moved the rear shocks forward to get rid of the backward angle..used a link to connect them.

and i wanted a spare, so i used a spare aluminum 3 link for that..

and all done for today..lol..

i will bet it is fun with the 2.2's but looks so much better with the 1.9's. A little taller 1.9 like a Bogger, Claw, Irok or PitBull would look perfect.

yeah i like the flat irons..but there are some 1.9's that are just as tall as the hammers i'm using..if i can find some that work good for me i might go to the 1.9's..we went on a trail run the other day with 5 guys..all had 2.2's except for one, he had a honcho with 1.9 pit bull rock beasts..and they were beasts allright..with a couple exceptions, he made it everywhere we went on 2.2's..the other reason i wasn't crazy about the 1.9's was that i don't have the wheels weighted yet, and the shorter wheelbase caused it to roll a couple times..with the heavier 2.2 wheels it doesn't..so i'm gonna pick up some weight for the 1.9 wheels and try them again..i have to agree that it does look better with the 1.9's

I've come up with a name for it... Gonna call it "BLUE" like Paul Bunyan's ox...

Ya the weight and the extra width with the off set of the 2.2's will help the roll (but sometimes the height adds to it). I really dig the blue color. I just picked up a Hilux body last week and was considering a tone of blue. But went the flat desert tan color instead. It is so hard picking a color some times.

I was going to go with a flat green color, or brown.. Something along those lines, but my son was shopping with us and his favorite color is blue, so he picked it out.. It's growing on me.

the rear to my cab will be here tomorrow..and i just ordered some 1.9 Interco IROK's today..i may have went overkill with the weight in my wheels...i have 3oz in each front , and 5oz in each rear... the rear is heavier because with the shorter wheelbase and very light rear end it liked to come off the ground at certain angles.. but it's much better now...

this pic is to take the place of the huge iphone pic i put on..lol..

Looks sweet as it is. You plan on cutting the frame behind the cab to make it a real truggy?

probably not, the cage was made to bolt to the chassis, and i want to keep it like it is, in case i want to throw the honcho setup back on, or a different body style..eventually i might get the hilux rear pickup bed...i want to keep my options open for now.. glad you like it, i wasn't sure about it when i started...but i'm very glad it's heading in the right direction

the original owner of my truck did, he tig welded the sliders and the cagework..he bought the hilux body and built the cage and sliders for it..the body bolts right up to the sliders..i plan on filling in the holes on the hood eventually (whenever i feel like a new paintjob) he just never got around to finishing the truck when he had it..

well it's been forever since i posted anything in here...just been driving the heck outta my truck..lol.. recently i got a Holmes Hobby torquemaster 40t ..and i LOVE it !!!! and dropped a mamba max pro in it..but , a buddy of mine and i are thinking about trying a G6 event coming close to us in september..and you need to have 5 scale things on your rig..and my rear cage doesn't allow me much room for stuff like that.. soooooooooooooooooo this is what i came up with for a little room.. cut my honcho bed in a couple pieces and trimmed it to fit into my cage like so :

and i like it also cuz it isn't so "open" anymore :

then i placed the fuel cell piece over that :
