I run the rear kit on my XJ with no shocks and love it.... IMO the 4 link drives better but the leafs are super fun ....

I think it's just a less-common suspension mod. Sure it'll be very scale, but performance is much better with links. Also, IIRC there is a width issue with running leafs since frame is narrower than the posts used on the axles - so you have to either use adapter plates, outboard leafs from frame, and/or make frame wider. They do look cool and function as leaf springs should - but since there is that performance trade off...

Re: RcBros Leaf Spring Conversion

I would argue that the performance is better then that of a 4 link suspension. However the strength isn't near as comparable. The leafs once broken in are extremely predictable and in some setups preform amazingly better. Being that they are spring steel, they do eventually wear out, and in extremely stress scenarios can break or bend. We stress that those running our kit realize this before going forth the effort of purchasing and installing them on there vehicle. If you are building a purpose built scale rig, then these are the ticket to have.

We've had the best luck with the Tamiya spring.
