| Which Bodies Fit?
I just recieved my Tamiya Clod Buster hard body and it is too short (wheel base) for my SCX10. I don't get it. It seemed to fit in all of the videos and pictures I've seen online but mine doesn't. I will send it back soon and ask for a different body but don't know what to get. I really want a hard body instead of lexan but if requires allot of tweaking of the actual truck to make one fit than I might have to settle for a lexan that I know will fit. Any suggestions? I initially wanted a Tamiya Hilux but I'm not sure it will fit either.

If you're not willing to work on the truck and tweak it to make changes then your selection of body choices will become severely limited.

The body is too short. What are links and how will they fix the problem? Ok let me rephrase....how (if possible) do I shorten the wheel base? I'm new to all of this so someone please help! Last edited by UPS Gregg; 06-29-2012 at 08:53 PM. |

| Re: Which Bodies Fit? the links are the pieces that attach your axle to the chassis. all you need to do to shorten the wheelbase is make them shorter. both upper and lower. another option is modify the body, if you are comfortable with that. many have done an extended cab clod buster butting a second body to make the cab longer. i also put together a decent list of bodies that are near direct fits to the scx10 chassis just to answer this question. search scx10 body guide.

To add to the above post, here is a pic of the links on my Dingo. The 4 attached to the lower part of the axle (when truck is upright) are surprisingly called the lower links. You can adjust the length of these to match the wheelbase of your body. At the same time the length of the uppers (the ones with the bent rod ends in the pic) have to be adjusted to keep the axle pinion gear shafts pointing slightly upward. This keeps the the driveshaft at a comfortable angle so it doesn't bind as well as keeping it higher than the links for protection when scraping over rocks. |

See how much it's off. I have no idea what length links to buy. It will need longer body posts as well. Should be fun once I know for sure what I need. Suggestions??? Last edited by UPS Gregg; 06-30-2012 at 08:07 PM. |

You will most likely need to make your own links. Plenty of threads on it if you take the time to search.

Please dont put body posts through that body. Use velcro instead. Haha try putting the upper links on the bottom to see if that is short enough. Are the links 98mm or 110? |

Buy some m3 all thread, some aluminum tube, and some rod ends, make sure they have the ball in them, Cut the allthread to the length you need, thread the rod ends on and check the wheel base, if its the right length cut your tube to fit inbetween the rod ends and walla you have custom links. | |

It is that easy. The only hard part is getting the links the same length, haha. The upper link y's from the frame to the upper part of the axle, the lower linksgo from the skid to the lower portion of the axle, where the shocks mount. Most of the termonology is pretty self explanatory. |

Here's a link for making links How To: Make your own links lots of info and will help you get acquainted with the terminology. You can thread the ball ends on the all thread to check length. If you need to shorten it just unscrew the rod end and cut some more off of the thread. when you have the correct length then cut and instal the tubing to cover the thread. You can do it! |

Thanks for the help! I am in Huntsville Alabama for the weekend and one of the local hobby shops actually had what I needed to pull this off. |
