The Summit 2-speed seems to be one of the favorites going.

Summit tranny and a dinky cradle, as bulletproof as a 2spd tranny can be

The rc3wd option has proven to not be so durable.

rc4wd has never really been an option anyways. just with shipping to canada kills a guy and to find a local hobby shop that carries the full line... i have a better chance finding a needle in a haystack. another silly question is that summit trans, how much does the thing weigh. jeep 4 door is getting a little full and on the heavy side compared to my stocker

problem: dinky cradle's been out of stock for a LONG time. see if these are still available - Honcho/SCX-10 Summit transmission mount.

Removing the slop from a Summit trans - good time to grease tranny

The slop didn't bother me much being that the tranny is so durable. Durability was a concern for me with a 4pole sensored motor.

And it shouldn't. If I were building a dedicated scaler, I would want it as heavy and dense as possible, to mimic the real thing as close as possible.

i think it is still on the heavy side. it is double what my stocker is...

if rc4wd comes out with that trans im still worried about finding parts for it. to get them in canada is hard to find a hs that carries the whole line let alone parts. and shipping costs are an arm a leg to get stuff here... an extra $115 for shipping on a trail finder 2 to come to my door... not
