transmission gears

My center gear in my transmission has flat spots and stripped spots. Causing me issues, major issue being all I get when I try to go in reverse is a nice grinding sound and sometimes a good 1 foot of reverse if I'm on flat ground. So, I need new gears and/or transmission. I plan on doing all of my chassis custom for the most part, so I don't necessarily need something to mount up in stock location, I just need something GOOD. I don't mind just replacing the gears to metal ones, but the only place I found metal gears for the scx10 trans was out of stock. Can anyone point me to where I could find metal gears for the trans? Any suggestions are much appreciated.

For the idler gear:

Robinson Racing Hard Steel Idler Gear AX10/SCX10

For the lower gear:

Robinson Racing Hardened Aluminum Diff Gear: AX10/SX10

Re: transmission gears

Okay, I was looking at these on rpp hobbies and just not 100% sure about which goes where as far as sizing, because that lower gear looks big to me - like it's suppose to be the spur gear that sits outside the transmission. Which I'm not doubting you, just want to double check.

I need these two:

The top gear in my trans is already steel. Shouldn't the bottom gear have a shaft through it or is that a separate part? I'm not at home looking at it is why I'm not sure. If the shaft just slides in/bolts on then that should be fine then. Thanks! "thumbsup"

You remove the output shafts off the plastic gear and install on new gear.

Or Robinson's makes one with integrated output shafts if you want to upgrade from the aluminum shafts.

I've had my aluminum shafts for nearly 2 years with no issues but seems a lot of people crawl more aggressively than I do and broke them frequently so they upgraded to steel or these.

Re: transmission gears

Cool, I ordered those two gears as well as a new 83T spur gear and an 18T and 22T pinion. I have a 20T pinion on it atm and figured I would get some various sizes to play around with the speeds eventually. Thanks for the help guys.
