Default Old 3906 E-maxx 2speed in an SCX10?

Hello, I was thinking of buying a new e-maxx chassis and tranny for my old e-maxx and I was wondering...

Has anyone ever modified an old 3906 e-maxx tranny to fit into an SCX10? I have heard of people putting a summit tranny in, they are roughly the same idea but the motor mounts on a dual-motor plate on the E-maxx instead of the finned mount on the summit. I know i would have to mod a set of driveshafts to fit, maybe just a piece of steel across the chassis and somehow bolt it in? Can i use a mini-servo to work the 2speed or do i need to keep a normal servo in there? I got the idea from a post i saw in the General forum recently about reducing the slop in the summit tranny.

pictures?
