Default CMaD's Wroncho build.

Ive seen a few of these wrocho's around in the forum and loved them so I decided to start building one my self.

I flipped the trans around so I had to make some custom links to bend around the drive shafts. I am also playing around with 2 different positions on the lower links. Started off with traxxas big bore shocks but didnt like how tall they were so went with some aluminum scx10 shocks. Still playing around with it so i havent mounted up the electronics yet.

Honcho chassis
wraith axles
mip drive shafts
ax10 bent lower links(mounted outside of frame)
home made upper links
STRC hubs and knuckles
STRC steering linkage
scx10 aluminum shocks
billet works .7 wheels
2.2 boggers
tekin FXR
Tekin 35T on 3s
hitec 7955T servo
castle 10amp BEC

Truck looks mean.

Man that thing is awesome, reminds me of the 4 Wheel Drive mags showing the trucks with the 2.5 ton axles and the tractor tires headin' for the mud bog!! Nice

Make a crossmember right behind the skid plate, put some tabs on it so you can run straight upper links.

Could you use a panhard setup to ditch the oddball link(s)?

i guess, ive never used a panhard setup, and i think the panhard setup will not perform as well. the 'oddball' links work perfect though

Thats exactly how i made the upper links for my Wroncho. Except I sleeved them with aluminum tubing. I didn't like the angle of the driveshaft coming out of the trans to the diffs so that's why I flipped my trans to. Its worth the trouble of building custom bent upper links to have good driveshaft angles in my book. I did mine really nice and they look like a factory part. Another thing you should think about is making your upper links longer to angle the diff input up. It takes a lot of the angle off the driveshaft. It took me a few days to get everything perfect on mine. Great job. Man, I just sold my Wroncho a couple weeks ago, and now I'm kind of regretting it. Oh well, looks like I'll have to build another one.

I built my own wroncho. Now I know ever build is different but why did you mirror the tranny when with the stock tranny location the drive shaft fits right through links? On mine I put a r2 rc4wd tranny but still left it in the stock position and the drive shafts fit perfectly through the wraith links..

i didnt like the angles of the drive shafts going from one side to the other and i wanted the motor weight on the other side to counter act the torque twist.

Stock or R2 trans work fine with Wraith links?

Also, did you use SCX10 or Wraith drive shafts?

It is a cool truck! I would have never thought of it but the BWD wheels are cool too!

I used hot racing wraith links. Right now stock honcho drive shafts. MIPs are the next but will be honcho length. I have a the R2 heavy duty tranny with the RC4WD R2 scx-10 skid plate. Crosses just fine through the links. I have a thread up to. "79' Ford Wroncho" if you wanna check mine out.

That's a pretty crazy angle on the driveshaft, does it bind?
