Talking Anti-sway bar

Hey guys.

i was just looking at some Axial option parts, when i came across this :
Axial Wraith™ Sway Bar Set Rear (Soft, Medium, Firm)
It is an Anti sway bar for the wraith. would this work a kind of a panhard bar with ou th sway on the scx10???

I think you might be mixing up your parts. A panhard bar is to laterally locate an axle on a three link or a non triangulated 4 link (like a ford HD or jeep with a solid axle) . A sway bar is designed to stop body role during a turn. It counteracts the opposite wheel travel but does not limit travel if both wheels are traveling up or down at the same time. I can't think of a production 1:1 vehicle that doesn't have one now at least on the front.

^ I think every vehicle has one for the front. Anything that's not a pickup prob has one in the rear as well (not sure of that though)

Yes, it's a sway bar

For the lazy

With some work you could probably add one to the front of a scx10 to add some scaleism....with out one in the rear you may find it will roll the body harder when flexing the front out.

Oh. well that sucks. is there any way to counteract sway with a cms, without a panhard, or is that my only choice?

What can I do to eliminate axle sway? Could I just use the arms on the anti sway kit, without the bar? Or can I only use a panhard?

panhard is to keep the axle from shifting left-right as it carries a 3-link non-triangulated setup. that wont assist in rollover!
youll need a swaybar kit or such as to prevent this

I think there is some confusion here as to what you are trying to correct. What seems to be the problem in the first place so we can try to help out? What do you mean by "axle sway"?

What do you have against a panhard and 3-link?

I'm thinking the OP is having issues with his front axle shifting left to right due to a CMS on a 4-link suspension.

OP: Is this correct? If so, you need to switch from a 4-link to a 3-link w/ panhard. An anti-sway is for an entirely different function. Check out the link below in my signature. Page two and three kinda have pics of my setup.

808DA6, you are partly correct. I'm talkin 3 link, and panhard. I have a drop spring setup, and when the shocks are maxed out, my axel shifts, and turns the truck. Is there a triangulated setup I could use without the panhard? That's my question at the moment.

i installed the VP panhard and CMS like a week ago....
ripped the damn thing off cuz it was pulling on the servohorn making the wheels turn left. It seemed as if the draglink was fine when suspension was compressed but...when lifting up on the front end and the shocks took full travel was where the draglink seemed too short?

i didnt care for the setup so im back to standard 4-link Servo is back on my axle where im happy with it!

sounds like you are getting "axle swing" usually caused by too short of links and/or too much angle on them, where they start pulling the axle towards the center when shocks are fully uncompressed.

Ah. I hear you. Sounds like you need to play with different link lengths and mounting points. Depending on how much suspension travel you have, you may not be able to tune ALL of the shift out. Can you post a few pics of your setup? One pic at full compression and one at full extension.

not to sabotage this thread but in hopes to help maybe?

my setup was lowered (flipped lower links around & rear shock mounts)
using STRC steer/drag links
VP CMS
VP Panhard

maybe the bend in the drag link was an issue?
i did try spacers between the draglink and steering link of various lengths and still...no luck?

if you find a solution id like to know myself as maybe at that point id be willing to throw my CMS/Panhard back onto the rig?

Well I found a thread on the triagulated set up. But I'm not sure if took the panhard off.
Here's the link:
po' man 3 link conversion for front
I think I'm going to try it if he doesn't message me back yet.

Hey FORDROX-here is a link to a anti-sway bar mod (couldn't remember where I had seen it when I first saw your post). It may not fix the axle swing you are having but it does address your original question....maybe.
Looks like a pretty sweet mod!
check it out starting at post #372 KC's C2/G6 TJ BUILD...
