Another Dingo Build

Picked up this kit a couple weeks ago along w/ some little upgrades. I really missed my Honchos, and while the wheelbase is shorter than what I was used to, it still climbs pretty well. Today I got to take her out on the maiden voyage. So far it has a Traxxas Vileneon setup w/ Traxxas digital servo, MIP CVD's, Axial light kit, scale accessories, Motoworx wheels, a bulldog wireless winch waiting to be installed and all the Axial aluminum hop ups on their way to my local shop. I'll update pics when it gets finished.

Re: Another Dingo Build

I was dissapointed with how my truck was climbing, the big 5000mah i had in back was to rearward and too high, so I made some side mounted battery plates nice and low out of styrene. They bolt to the frame rails and through the rock sliders. I wanted to keep a decent amount of run time, so these were the smallest I wanted to run. I also painted them silver so from the bottom of the truck they look kind of like metal bodywork. Also finally got my winch all sorted out and installed. Used a traxxas waterproof box to keep my electronics dry. It has the wireless controller, and a separate 2000mah 2s lipo, which i moved over the back axle for weight, on top of a piece of styrene cut to fit between the frame rails, and mounted flush with the top of the rails, helping get things lowered. Seems to climb a bit better now that a lot of weight has been brought to the middle and lower. Any other suggestions would be great.

Re: Another Dingo Build

i think i used .20 for the tops and .80 for the sides. used some longer screws to attach them to the chassis, and drilled out the holes on the rock sliders and ran screws down through the top. hope the pics help.

Made a few updates for this season with new pics to come, added proline suspension, mip driveshafts, new batteries and mounting plates, and some other cool goodies to show you guys. Took it out a couple weeks ago to shake off the cob webs.

how is that vxl system working for you? any coging at all?

Re: Another Dingo Build

That's been swapped out as well. Currently running a tekin 35t and traxxas xl-5 esc while I wait for Holmes waterproof br-xl's to come in stock somewhere. The vxl had a lot of clogging and allowed the truck to roll to easily up and down hill.

Hehehe... Did that once, after a teardown... Borrowed my son's VXL/velineon and threw it on the scx10 just for fun. Barrel rolls at every turn. Ended up breaking the front bumper mount and stripping servo gears... But it was worh it... It needed an alu mount anyhow. Fast but no drag brake. Glad you went with the Tekin. I'm running the 35t as well. Ideal overall when paired with 3s. Your build looks great. Clean and aesthetically pleasing. Any goodies going in that rack up there?

couple pics from today's adventures, found some quicksand like mud that required lots of balance for me not to fall in to grab it. Loving it even more now that i've rebuilt it.

Like the way it looks with the roll bar cut like that. What made you decide to do that?

Wanted something more pickup looking but love the defender styling. Never saw a defender pickup so figured I'd make my own. Just some diamond plate styrene, easy little mod.
