RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux I had a thread for this, but the images vanished. Time for a new one. "thumbsup" I'll do my best to replace what was lost. I've had this SCX10 for nearly 5 years now and all I've really done is transfer it from shelf to shelf. I'm finally determined to completely finish it before NSC. Started out with a stock SCX10 Kit purchases from the LHS http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...ng/ax10004.jpg Added some electronics and a stock hilux body and took it out for a test drive. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...ng/ax10009.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...ng/ax10007.jpg It was fun, but wasn't unique. From this rig we started with a rough leaf spring kit into Version 3 we have today. For those of you who don't know, my plan is replicate my 1980 toyota 1:1 as best as I can. Quick cell picture for reference http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...o/be3b68c1.jpg 1:1 Specs: 37" Iroks Lockers front and rear Dual Cases with 4.7's in back case Triple Sticks 2001 3rz High Steer Longfields With that said, I hacked the bed into pieces http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/IMG_0298.jpg I got here and realized I wasn't much of a styrene guy. Luckily a local whom has mad skills was kind enough to do a drop bed for me. |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux This is where I start to loose alot of my previous project pictures. The drop bed was done, I painted the cab and bed, and added lights front and rear. Another local was kind enough to do my sliders and rear bumper. I searched for awhile to find a soft 8 1.9 wheel. Integy was the only set I could find so I picked up a set cheap, painted black and added some rox lox. Then I added Wraith C's and Knuckles with XR10 Universals. Here's how she sits as of today. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0859.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0862.jpg Next is the electronics (undecided) and front bumper as well as tire carrier. |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux Are you no longer selling the leaf spring kit? |
Making more kits are next on the list. I took the year off to focus on family and work and my machinist is doing similar things. Now that I'm getting back into it I have put in the request to cut the remaining pieces needed to complete the kits. I have no direct ETA so please no pm's in regards to release date, however rest assured once available I will post up! |

Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux Parts are slowly rolling in the from the mailman. As much as I really wanted to do the tube on work, things just didn't pan out. I hired the local master MG200 to finish what was needed and I'm glad I did. His prices make it hard to not pay someone to do it, rather then do it yourself, and the work is top notch "thumbsup" Check it out! http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0007.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0014.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m.../DSC_00121.jpg |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux Looking good! Are you going to do the tube doors like on the 1:1 as well, that would be Bad A$$? Is this going to be your C2 rig for NWSC this year? One day I'll need to do a build with your leaf kit. I've always liked it but have never had a build I could use it with. 8) |

Yes this will be my C2. Hopefully she treats me well! |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux Started putting on the new VP goodies tonight.. Need to get myself a longer steering link, but this will work for mockup. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0019.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0021.jpg Cut the fairlead hole in my new bumper and painted everything up. Got to hot in the RC room so called it good "thumbsup" |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux Hey, how do you have your leaf springs set up in the back? |

Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux sweet! I know what im goin to ask for for my birthday! thats in a couple mounths though... |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux My 1:1 has a fresh 2.7L 2001 3rz tacoma motor in it, and it takes some pretty good abuse. Lets just say, I enjoy the rev limiter :lmao: Eventually this puppy may get brushless, but I want uber crisp low speed control and some wheel speed when I need it on the course; so I looked no further then a Brood Motor. Picked up a Specter motor which from what I'm told should be a perfect match for this rig. It looks wicked 8) http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...o/DSC_0043.jpg Also got my MIP's installed. For some reason the front needed shortened, nothing a dremel couldn't fix. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...o/DSC_0046.jpg |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux Got the steering mocked up. Time to take some measurements and order some ti links "thumbsup" http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0049.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0051.jpg Nice part about this setup is the steering. I'm shocked at how much I'm going to have. Pics don't do it justice http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0052.jpg |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux Man is this SCX10 Section slow or does my build just suck? lol. Awaiting for my winch controller to arrive then I'll start on the wiring. In the meantime I got my bumpers and sliders installed. Put the winch in with my team3six winch line. Just awaiting for my fairlead to roll in. Pretty excited to see this rig roll! May have some rear clearance issues, but want to drive it first. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0055.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0062.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...g/DSC_0064.jpg |
Re: RcBros Leaf Sprung Hilux Wow! That is a lot of steering! How long is your steering arm? The one that connects to the servo horn? |
