Dr.Newb's scx10

Ok, so today I picked up a SCX-10 with a K5 blazer body, 3 batts & charger plus a whole bunch of other stuff for a screaming deal off Kijiji. Will post pics soon. This is my first full size crawler, I have a few Losi Trail Trekkers but finally decided I wanted an SCX-10.

Have fun!

What kind of terrain do you have? Like rocks and dirt? If we know what you're driving over, we can suggest tires for ya too,

where about in BC are ya?

Dr.Newb 08-31-2012 04:41 PM

i pretty much have any terrain i could ask for, lol the plus side of living in british columbia canada is that im surrounded by mountains and forests, but yea my truck came with wheels and tires off a traxxas but i also got the stock 1.9's with the flat irons, im running the flat irons for the time being atleast because i wasnt a fan of the other set of tires but yea so far im in LOVE with this truck and the size, im used to my losi's where i have to pick and choose my crawl spots were as with this SCX there are sooooooooooo many places i can go :D

Salmon Arm

Added a quick video to my youtube channel just so you guys can see what i got to work with, i also got an rpm lightbar but i wasnt a fan of the look so i took it off MY NEW SCX10 K5 BLAZER! :) - YouTube

i am having one problem im not sure about, the screw that holds the rear driveshaft onto the trans keeps getting lose after a few minutes of wheeling and i have to keep stopping and retightening that bolt so i dont just have front wheel drive... what can i do to fix this????

Re: Finally! got myself an SCX-10

If you're on the diff input that has a single flat rather than the newer style thru-hole, add another m3 set screw/cap head/button head on the opposite side of the current one.

Re: Finally! got myself an SCX-10

Blue threadlock will solve that mess! Basically what's happening is the grub screw or set screw holding the shaft in place works itself undone with vibrations and stress from crawling.

Re: Finally! got myself an SCX-10

Use blue loctite on those set screws.

Re: Finally! got myself an SCX-10

ok so i picked up some blue locktite and put it on the grub screws for the front and rear, im just waiting for it to dry, thanks guys "thumbsup"

Re: Finally! got myself an SCX-10

That should solve it, Loctite and a grubby in the other side. I actually loctite mine in and then screw in another grub screw in behind the original, as the original grub screw goes pretty deep. It protects the hex head from dirt, and helps to lock it in. I've also heat shrinked the joint in the past, if you can find big enough shrink. That worked pretty great to keep the whole area clean and not binding. It also keeps the grub screw for you if it does back out. It only lasts about 3-4 runs though, but it's cheap, quick and easy to replace.

well i dont have a hobby shop in my town the nearest one is an hour away so i have to go pick up a grub screw set next time i get a chance until then im hoping a healthy dose of locktite should keep me wheelin in 4wd and not Fwd haha

Sorry my pictures aren't the greatest, my camera hates me haha.

Moved Receiver box and relocated battery to just behind the front wheels (thanks AX10wannabe) "thumbsup" http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/b...7/HPIM2164.jpg

Painted the rims black, painted the front lockers red, added a few things I had kicking around and painted the windows black to hide the wires.

Re: Finally! got myself an SCX-10

You will find in time that the flat irons are pretty damn good tires for just about any terrain.

Re: Finally! got myself an SCX-10
