Default How to mount tamiya Hilux body with drop bed on my scx10? Body sits too high.

How do I mount my tamiya Hilux body with drop bed on my scx10? Body sits too high due to drop bed. I really dont want to cut open the bed :( Maybe I can put a tool box and a cooler to cover up the holes on the bed for the shock mounts?

Gear Head RC SCX10 Rear Shock Relocation Kit

That kit or making one like it would allow you to lose your rear shock towers. That I assume is what is causing you the problem. I know that the front has some room, but the back hits with the stock non drop bed with the rear towers in place.

Thanks, I came across this last night on accident when I was about to post this thread. It was on the home page of rccrawler website

My only problem would be if this works with the R2J 4link truss since gearhead uses the same mounting location. I guess I can use longer bolts that go to the axle. Im also running losi crawler shocks which are wider in diameter compared to proline powerstroke shocks. I wonder if the shock/spring would hit the truss from that geometry.

Since Hilux body is so popular I would suggest doing a search for builds with the drop bed and see what others do. For example you'll see many eliminate the shock towers and either triangulate or chassis-mount their rear shocks. You could even leaf it. MANY options here.

eliminate the shock towers and use either modified axial shocks or touring car shocks mounted forward on the frame.

It will work, just do as you said and use longer screws. As for the shocks springs hitting the truss just add spacers if needed.
