Tools-
1) Scissors. I used curved lexan scissors
2)superglue/epoxy
3)gloves (optional)


Materials-
1) Aluminum can.
2) Clear plastic from a box window
3) Sharpie to mark template


Time-
15-20 minutes

DIY Rotors-

I wanted rotors, just not $30 rotors. After all it gets dirty, banged up, etc. I took a box window from a pen box and cut my template:

I tested fitted the template and confirmed they for over the 12mm hex things. After that I cut out my aluminum rotors. I wanted to make "slotted" rotors so I took a sharpie and drew some lines. A few minutes later I wasn't happy. So I scrapped the "slotted" look and just went to solid rotors, which is what most vehicles have. I secured the rotors to the actual rim with some glue/epoxy. I thought about the hub, but I wanted them to mark my rims weights (more on that later). I will eventually purchase some rotors that are machined from RPP Hobby or RC4WD. But these are just to cheap and so easy to make. For my silver rims I am trying to think of a way to make the rotors stand out, I'll have to make another set, the stock axial glued rims are very tight, so it's hard to see the rotors. I may or may not make some for those.

I peeled them back out and recut with a little more precision and ended up with some really nice looking scale rotors for dirt cheap. They clear the hubs upfront fine, and add a little extra scale points :)

Since my front TSL's are weighted, I would have to juggle them back and forth to figure out which ones are for the front. I fixed that by making the front rotors a little bigger than the rears, again, most vehicle rotors are larger on the front...

another cheaper way is 1/2" body washers from lowes or home depo. 1.98 for 4. little sanding on the inside hole and a sharpie. i used them on my drift car but pressed them onto the hex on the wheel not the axle.

dont get me wrong i really like his idea too. makes it easier to get the smaller rotors in the rear

Like it. Could you glue two or three together for thickness? I know alum cans are very thin. I could see these bending real easy. Now it needs the brake caliber. Great idea! Like to see what you can improve on.
