no real advice other then just make sure u get the right ones in the right axle. they help out alot on climbing

hard to tell in this pic but it is near vertical. with the gears i had no problem climbing up it. without them i couldnt even get half way up before flipping over backwards

also notice that the torque flex has been reduced from them

Really wasn't looking for a HOW TO.... More of a " is it worth it type thing". Pretty sure I could figure out how to install them.....

Without a doubt worth it. My rig was good until I put the gears in. Now its a beast. Climbs like a mountain goat. It really helps keep the truck from lifting the front end on steep inclines. If you haven't done it mirror the transmission while you are at it.

I only know of 3. Hardened stock gear, hardened underdrive and hardened overdrive.

Has anyone out there done the under drive in the front only...leaving the rear gear ratio stock?

that would cause some problems... the rear would be pushing all the time.

If you do in fact mean OD in the front only, then that is how I have mine. Definitely an improvement over stock.

That would make them both the same ratio. Here are the ratios and part numbers:

Stock 38/13 AX30395
Overdrive 36/14 AX30401
Underdrive 43/13 AX30402

Running OD(Front) and UD(Rear) gears...

Pros...

-These new gears are made out of stronger material then stock making them more durable.

-Going up hill: Digs the front tires in to get more traction and rear tires spin slower to be less likely to grab rear traction flipping you backwards.

-Going down hill: Drags you a$$ end and makes it a bit more easier to control when decending.

-Turning: Increased turning radius because it drags the a$$ end, just like pulling a e-brake in a fwd car.

Cons:
-Cost
-Some people like say its more prodicable with no OD and UD.

Here is a video of my C1 Hilux with OD and UD gears.

Here is the build thread....

Thanks people my mind is definitely SET....

OverDrive for the Front 36/14
UnderDrive for the Rear 43/13

Along with some Vanquish AX-10 Axles, Axle Trusses, Servo Mount along with my already installed Axial Universals, C-Hubs , Knuckles and upgraded bearings. Truck is definitely getting there.

Yeaa I have heard its almost like having a dig my buddy has his front OD and the rear UD, also paired with high steer knuckles he just blips the throttle a couple times and like clockwork it jumps over with almost no front movement its awesome to watch at a comp
