| SuperAwesome's SuperAwesome Honcho
So I'm gonna make this thread for my Honcho to keep track of its progress. Big Brown dropped it off on Oct 18. I got it out and took it for a test drive on a makeshift obstacle. Found out real quick the stock tie rod is less than desirable. So I whipped one up out of an old clodzilla link I had laying around Still need to fine tune it. Then I decided I wanted it a different color so after a quick rattle can job I got this. Does anybody have the grill and headlight decals? Mine didn't fair to well when I removed them for paint. Anyway thats where it sits right now. |

Thanks. Did the bumper lift using some old servo mounts I had. Got the idea from another thread. Finished the tie rod also. The mailman dropped off 100 12mm button heads and 100 nylocks for me. Makes it look mo better. |

Does the bumper hold up good if you hit it on a rock with the lift?

Don't know yet just did it. The mount sits right on the frame though so it won't move far if it does. Edit: Just took it out and bashed into a few rocks and it holds up just fine. Last edited by SuperAwesome; 10-21-2012 at 03:09 PM. |

Went to remove the bump stops on the shock shafts and noticed oil leaking out. All 4 were like this. Is this pretty common? I have maybe 30 minutes of run time on this thing and am surprised to see the shocks leaking. Also wanted a bit more speed so I threw in an HPI 15t motor I had. Normal for stock shocks to leak a little. Careful with that metal steering link now - now that its rigid it'll be very easy to snap the steering knuckles. For grille and lights you can purchase sticker kits to replace them with axial look or Toyota look.

Nice look'n rig you got there! how do you like that motor you installed? Also, what is it you have lifted outside the garage?

The motor upped the speed a bit, and it handles the garage course fine. Its not real torquey so I doubt it would be good for any real crawling, but for bashing around it works. The truck outside is an 85 Toyota xtra cab that started life as a 2wd. |

Got some 2.2 wheels and tires from chugdugdadug and also bought some G-Made shocks. I think these tires fit the truck better. Then I made a mount for the ESC that goes over the motor and whipped up some inner fenders. Also put in a Zippy 6000 mah 2s Lipo, really pepped it up. Be careful with that 15t 540. Motor limit is 19t

I have since put in a 16 turn. Not much better but so far so good. If the ESC goes boom I guess I'll just have to go brushless.

I have a Traxxas 550 12t in mine. Apparently it is the 540 equivelent to a 19t or 17t motor. I like it, and it's pretty quick |

How do you like those shocks? have you found any good places close to or in Vancouver to crawl? I don't always want to drive 30-60 away minutes to play with the RCs but yet to find anything really exciting close in. Klineline Pond has some decent stuff in the summer (underwater right now) but I still get bored after an hour.

I really haven't used it much since I put them on. They sure look cool though. I would imagine you could find a lot of good places to crawl up on Larch mountain. You just gotta be willing to get your car dirty heading up there. I was just thinking to myself today it would be cool if there was an indoor place to crawl locally. I'm not a fan of getting my truck dirty and wet which kind of sucks since we've got at least 6 months of solid rain and shit weather ahead of us. |

an Indoor spot would be fun, spcially now that its getting pretty cold outside. I didn't think about Larch, I have a 4x4 and love getting it dirty so that shouldn't be a problem.
