I remember now why both the tie rod and drag link cannot be mounted/stacked on top of the sterring knuckle and that's because it would limit the up travel on the right side with the drag link hitting the bottom of the frame. With the tie rod mounted underneath the steering knuckle and the drag link on top the drag link just hits the frame when the suspension is fully compressed on the right side.

I have read debates for and against, and understand the performance differences. I was always, 8 degs of what? Now from that pix alone I finally have the full picture. Thank you for that pix.

Be gentle.

Awesome pix by the way.
When I was framing up the shots I thought the same thing and hoped that shot would be good example of what the 8 deg hubs do.

Thanks.

Actually they didn't. I called Jim at VP about it, he said they are fixing that going forward. Thanks for the reminder.

The SCX10 is a great way to get back into scale crawling.

Thanks. The battery location seems to work good, the rig feels very balanced and predictable.

Big thanks for taking all the pics and posting them, that was fun!

Agreed, such a cool shot! What I wasn't expecting from the VP Currie rockjock axles is how well they fly, seems the sloped design is very aerodynamic allowing the rig to jump up to 30% further then with other axles. I submitted a wing design to VP for the rear diff cover to provide some down force when driving at high speeds with the Tekin ROC 412 setup.

I get max steering both left and right but I had to limit the steering travel both ways with the stock axles/stub shafts because the dog bone would bind up in the drive cup.

any thoughts on counter sinking holes for the skid plate screws? Those axles are absolutely beautiful btw. Very nice work indeed!

I think countersinking them will allow them to rip out much easier.

I love this jeep but am curious why did vanquish make the axles set at those angles . The pumpkin should be rotated front and rear. What am I missing?

Go look at the real axles. They are rotated up and use a plastic skid. These axles are dead on.

As others have said, they are replicas of Currie rockjock 1:1 axles which are sloped back (called "high pinion") for added clearance.

I could be wrong here (have been before, lol) but Id think that destroying the screw head on the rocks would inevitable, I dont think ripping them off the axles would be a issue. Just a observation.

No matter what, these axles are most definately on my wish list! Id LOVE to own a set!

I don't think rocks are going to destroy the stainless steel screw heads, I think the worst that's going to happen is they will fill up with dirt/debris.

Here are all my settings for my Tekin RS w/ ROC 412 motor and my DX3R Pro radio. With these settings I have a ton of low end resolution and predictable control of power with no jumpyness. I think it's about as close as I could get it to react like a BRXL with brushed motor with all the benefits of a brushless setup with tons of power and very fun wheel speed.

So far I'm loving this Tekin RS/ROC 412 setup in my JK. I'll have to mount my Gopro onboard to demonstrate how it works.

My crawler setup is:
SCX10 Jeep JK
3S 2200mAH lipo battery
Tekin RS ESC
Tekin ROC 412 3100kv motor
Vehicle weight is 7.1 lbs

You can download my Tekin RS (.rs file) here. If you are not running VP's new Currie Rockjock axles then you will need to take the checkmark out of the "reverse motor" setting after you apply my setup in the hotwire application to run your motor in the default direction. The Currie Rockjock axles have the ring gear on the opposite side of Axial's AX10/SCX10 axles which reverses the rotation of the axles making me run my motor in reverse.
