Default My second Scx10

So It came from Ebay and I did some work for my lhs and they donated a Toyota hilux body to my ebay dingo. I even have the push bar. Don't know how it will work, but it should be fun. Anyone have the link length for a hilux on a dingo chassis? I did a search, looked at some very nice hilux builds saw some cool ideas, but no link length?

It was 180.00, junfac carbon shafts, solid round alum lockers, alum tranny case, alum steering and lower links, working radio, alum shocks, servo, a whole savox servo case filled with alum links, and a bazillion xtra parts. Hilux body came with a bag with all kinds of parts, dual sets of bumper, light buckets etc.

Anyway the cleaning of the used item has begun

Default Got some stuff done on the truck

Managed to get brand new axel housings, some alum link ends for the upper links, screws and stuff, and a couple 4 link bars for the axels so not using the Y link anymore. The truck came with a huge amount of alum links so I'm going with blue for the top links and I think the truck will be 2 tone blue with silver on the bottom and fenders. Saw one like that on google and thought it looked good.

After a lot of monkeying around with links and ends I finally managed to get a proper 4 link suspension, had to make the upper links fit properly as I forgot the axels need to be tipped up for the driveshafts to work properly. Hilux body has proper wheel base and everything turns properly.

got it to a running state. Now I have to put on the pushbar and start work on the body. Seems to run ok though.

I like the blue an silver color links, looks good!

Btw, since you have it in running order, I've always wondered if the aluminum transmission cases are noisy or about the same? Just curious... I really like the spur gear and aluminum case though!

There isn't any more noise than my honcho, it has the plastic case. With the body on it could be different though.

Yea, I could see that possibility. My honcho has the pl floor pan and with the body on you can hear drivetrain noise. It's not horribly loud or anything it just amplifies the operation noise when it's all closed up like that. Thinking about doing the rr gears and the aluminum case and spur gear. Do you know what brand the case and spur gear is? Thanks in advance.

there was abit of noise from the drive shaft at first, but once I actually loaded the truck with a battery it went away.

Ok So sorry about the long delay, I got a sandscorcher for Christmas and I had a Subaru brat being built, and in the middle I got a boat to re-do. Back to the hilux now.

Went to stock kit ripsaws and these nice rims.

Sitting on the desk waiting for the body pieces to go back on, and lights etc.

Looks very good. What did you end up as far as a link length, I think the Hilux wheel base is near 11.3 inches right.

umm I used the links I had till one fit LOL. I got the chassis on ebay with a box full of parts and tons of threaded rod. Guy I bought it off had a picture of a hilux on it so I assumed at least 1 set would work.

Got all excited and then....More painting lol. Devil is in the details, and the ca glue. It gets on everything. It said to use x-11 silver behind the back lights, I used foil tape instead

Got lots done today, lights mounted on vehicle, windows are in, roll bar on, light buckets done, body mounted. I really wanted to use the back bumper so I made extension to make it work. Turned out ok. No need to add the lights, not sure if I Will do all the light buckets right now. I have enough for the truck need to get some more for the light bar on top.

Got the lights in and some minor stuff on. Just need to paint the stripe on the bottom and the door handles. I ordered the sticker pack for it. Wanted to hide most of light wires on the roll bar, tank I added looks pretty cool.
