Default Honcho project...

I am new to the hobby as well as the site. Finally got some pics of the Honcho. Wanted to take them outside, but the rain and my camera are not friends. Anyway this is what I've got so far. Stock drive train, and body with a few free upgrades to the looks.

The steering linkage has been replaced as the plastic is worthless. Will be upgrading the rest of the steering parts soon.

Since I really have no experience in RCs, I am always open to suggestions on a power plant and electronics. I do want to replace the steering servo, as the stock on is pretty weak. Upgrading the rest of the steering parts is on the short list too.

Thanks,

As for power, you can't go wrong with a Holmes Hobbies motor (35T is my favorite), and their ESC's are top notch & programmable (if you have a local shop, they can usually do this for you if need be, for free).

Servo...stick with the tried & true Hi-Tec brand. 7950 would be my suggestion.

Other than that, metal (Aluminum) links, the RRP idler gear (wait till you strip the stock one first though...if you do at all), and eventually some wheels/tires with weight in the fronts.

Those are the basics I'd do first. But really, just fix it as you break it, and HAVE FUN! :-)

My hope is that I can eventually replicate my old Ford seen here. If it had not been for kids, and continuous front end issues. I would still have this truck.

So I've been working on my Honcho a little. I made a set of link for both sets of lowers and the rear uppers. Revo ends, all thread, and steel brake line. They added the weight, seems to have helped lower the COG. Added STRC aluminum knuckles and C-Hubs, along with a aluminum servo horn. Guess I'll end up changing the servo before long.

I need to change the wheels and tires, I guess this will be my next expense.

Anyway here are a few new pics for my project.

STRC Parts-

I was given a set of used fenders, not very pretty, but they work!

Funny lighting, shows off my pit stand. Made for a different use, but it is easier to work on the bench with this than it was before.

Enjoy!!!

Hey,

Hope your liking those fenders I gave you. Haha. But if nothing else they make a great template for a new set made out of a cool whip container. Just make sure you scuff them up with steel wool before you paint. That was my mistake on the ones your running now

Dude they are sweet. Not even all that worried about painting them at this point. Just nice not to have mud everywhere. Thanks, they are great!!!!!!
