VP Currie Rear Axle Assembly Hi all, I am trying to assemble one of the new VP Currie Rear axles right now and I am having some issues with the diff cover. The four set screws to hold the axle tubes in place do not go down all the way flush on the center section, and they are causing the diff cover not to seat properly. Has anyone else had this issue? How did you fix it? Also, what size Allen wrench did you use for the SHCS for the diff cover? Thanks! |
Re: VP Currie Rear Axle Assembly My front and rear will be here today, ill let you know what I find. Weird issue for VP, their stuff usually goes together really well. |
Re: VP Currie Rear Axle Assembly you sure the tube isn't in all the way, or crooked? |
3 Attachment(s) Are you speaking about the four holes near the bearing caps? If so, I gave an extra turn once set. I had the same issue but after a quarter turn again. Was not completely flush but did seat the diff cover. Attachment 219816Attachment 219817Attachment 219818 |

Re: VP Currie Rear Axle Assembly Yes, just tighten them down, they will imbed into the tube a bit, and thats the way it should be, you can loosen them and tighten again, they will go in with little effort... ** Note, only the two inner ones of course, the outer ones are just for alighment of the tubes... |
Re: VP Currie Rear Axle Assembly Yes, those are the ones that I am talking about. After letting them sit overnight, I was able to get them to seat further into the tubes and the diff cover will now go on properly. You guys weren't kidding when you said to tighten them snugly! I am very pleased with the axles! Nice product! |
Re: VP Currie Rear Axle Assembly ive assembled about 10 sets now, and ive just gotten used to it, they actually tighten quite easily, its just a weird feeling tightening them like that... but the advantage is they have a permanent like mechanical engagement that should never fail or come loose ... |
