| HH 35t motor burnt up in 10 min
I dont kno if i did something wrong or what but i got my dingo done i got for christams to get back into the scaling game today and took it out for a snowy first run. In about ten minutes it went up in smoke and im clueless to what went wrong, ive raced for awhile but havent a clue on anything about brushed motors. Im running stock gears, mip driveshafts, brxl esc. also i need to figure out if i need a new motor or should i just rebuild it or will it be fine since i stopped once it made some smoke, it does still work but makes a grinding sound. Help a newb out. Thanks, Cody |

Any binding without the motor in it? Does it roll Freely? What pinion are you running? Battery? Esc? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 |

I'll add to his list: What size spur are you running? Make sure the drive pins are in alignment on each MIP driveshaft, will cause binding/hopping/vibrations. If it let smoke out and noises followed, wouldn't hurt to have it rebuilt/checked. Could've had a winding come loose or something??? There's a few vendors on here that offer that service, though I'd probably send it to Holmes since it's his brand. Send him a message.

It sounds like you got a rock or something caught in between the motor can and the armature. Take out the brushes, undo the two screws at the top of the motor so you can twist the timing ring off along with the brush hood. Then pull the armature out and clean out the can with a toothbrush, if the commutator looks black you may want to have it cut if possible. Once done put everything back together and try it out of the truck firs and if it all looks good, reinstall. If this doesn't fix it it could also be a blown winding like Devil Inc said. |

The dust looks to be from the brushes. Pull the brushes out and see what they look like.

That's copper dust. Brush springs way, way too tight? Wrong brushes? The comm looks ok - not perfect, but ok...

holmes motors are great products, but any thing thats man made can have a defect even after final testing. a guy from our comps in ohio had a brand new 35 turn ( i think its the same motor you got?) ran it that day it was toast in 20 minutes. he contacted homes hobbies email. they made it right. don't lose hope they are good motors. good luck.
